is it a physiology effect? how does our brain receive it as a true logic rather than just a feeling?

Because the anticipation of going somewhere makes you think the trip is longer than what it actually is. Once you've been there the anticipation is gone so the trip home seems quicker.

To me, the return trip home always seems longer than the going away part of the trip, because I am so eager to get back home and have been sitting in the car so long.

Sometimes it's the opposite. When I'm tired and anxious to get home it seems like forever getting there compared to when I was alert and leaving home. I guess it's sort of like watching for the pot of water to boil, things take forever when you're waiting/looking forward to it.

I think its just because we just want to get home. So we drive faster, well I do any how....

i agree, back trips appear to shorter, but i dont know why.
