The Dr told me that I need urgent to get my cervix closed and I should stay in the hospital for few days getting ready for cerclage (?) Is it dangerous surgery and why it is necessary to stay in bed constantly for the rest of my pregnancy (almost 4 months more!) - it shouldn't be good for my body and probably for the baby, also, if I don't move for the next 4 months... I don't know if they would allow me to start my University in October - they told me to forget my study... But I really don't feel that anything wrong either with me or my baby - but the Dr says, that I should follow his instructions and I, of course, doing so... But may be someone else had similar experience and would explain me more about this case?...

I will not be able to have a birth partner/coach for when I go into labor (husband deployed last month for 18 months, parents are in nursing home, no friends close by, don't know many people where I just moved to, can't afford a doula, etc).
I am thinking of just having a c-section instead of having to go through labor alone.
Has anyone on here had a c-section by choice without "needing" one?
Has anyone on here given birth without a birth partner/coach?
What are your experiences?
Just curious.

So my period isn't actually due until the 26th, but I am still worried I may be pregnant.

I went to my yearly checkup last week and had a pap test, etc. And she felt my cervix or whatever the heck they are doing when they prod you're parts.

I didn't get a pregnancy test because I wasn't too worried at that time, but would she have noticed if I was pregnant? She said everything looked normal and didn't mention my uterus being larger or anything.

And thought I am not sure if a pap test can determine pregnancy, I doubt they check for that if it can, would that have said anything?

I know the simple answer is to go buy an EPT but I think I should wait till my period is actually late before wasting $15 on a test. I have done that too many times before ;-)

Please answer this question.....i know that i asked this question in another way earlier...but here it is but with another totally different reason...Ok in your own experience when you had a baby or if your close to delivery (im 32weeks pregnant with a girl) I was wondering if you ever gained weight but did not get really big in your belly but had a normal healthy sized baby....My uterus measures from 28-29 cms and im 32 weeks and i was told its normal but for 8 months pregnant im not really showing extemley big..has anyone ever had a small stomach but had a normal healthy sized baby?

Is it OK to participate in Wakeboarding behind a boat during my two week wait? Wakeboarding is like snowboarding on water. Can a fall off the board shake the "potentially" fertilized egg loose?

I need to maintain an active/normal life during my TWW....so I don't go crazy.

What are your thoughts?

My daughter whom is 15 i believe is pregnant. She confided in me about a month ago about what had happened when her and her boyfriend had sex for the first time. She told me that the condom had tore and they didn't realize it until it was over. She hasn't had a period since May 13, 2007 and she has always been regular. The date that the tore condom incident took place was 5-27. I took her to my ob/gyn and ended up having to see another dr in the office because my usual one was booked for weeks. I explained to the dr. that i had bought and given her 2 urine home tests and they came back negative but after having 4 children myself she was having all of the same symptoms i experienced during my pregnancies. He gave her a blood test which also came up negative (i believe it was the yes/no blood test). She is very skinny and now her stomach is looking very rounded in the tummy area and she still feels pregnant. What are the chances the blood test was wrong, thanks.

ok so when you have sex the sperm shoots up and some of them swim (who make it alive) swim up to the fallopian tubes and if at that point.. an egg and sperm meet.. then there is a chance of the egg fertilized.. and the egg has to go and attach itself to the uterus lining.. and THEN u become pregnant right..?

questions

1) what if the fertilized egg doesnt attach itself? what happens then? is there a name for this?

2) how long can it possibly take for conception of the egg and sperm.. and for the egg to implant itself (implantation)?

3) ok so say that the egg is fertilized.. and now its suppose to implant.. (im not sure if im right but i heard it can take up to 14 days to implant) so does that basically mean that you have up until the first day of your period til implantation can occur? and you have a good chance of being pregnant during that cycle til your period actually starts?

plz someone who knows about these things kindly explain them to me.. thank you so much

i haven't had a period since june b/c i'm irregular...i was just wondering when shoud i take a pregnancy test since i had spotting yesterday (aug 23). it was only when i wiped and nothing was on the pad when i looked...any advice is welcome. thanks

I'm wondering if I could be pregnant. on the 21st I started my period, but it seemed like it was too early my last period started on the 27th of last month. My husband and I may have conceived on the 9th or 10th of last month. My period also seemed lighter than normal and it's just about over. I took a test yesterday and it said to pee on the stick for 5 seconds but I dont think I went long enough anyway it was negative. I have been running a slight fever for about a week now and my breast have felt sore and the other day the felt like they were tingling. I dont want to get my hopes up I just really want to know. Do you think I could be still??

I'm sure a lot of people have asked this question. I went to the doctor today for my second ultrasound. I'm about 13 weeks right now. They said they couldn't tell the sex of the baby yet but maybe by my next visit. At my next visit I'll be about 17 1/2 weeks pregnant. How common is it for them to find out the sex at the time during the pregnancy?

I am currently 40 wks and 6 days pregnant...at 37 wks 5 days the baby weighed 8lbs 10 oz on the ultrasound. At 40 wks 2 days the doctor scheduled me to be induced due to the size of the baby and this being my first. C sections also run in the family. None of the women in my family dilate like they should. Ive been at 1 cm for three weeks. I went in to get induced on that day and i had strong contractions for 12 hours. She came in and checked me and i still had no change and didnt dilate still!! She sent me home and scheduled another induction!!! I believe she should have done the c section. Any medical opinions or just opinions? By the time the baby comes shell be fully grown!!

I have a very irregular cycle, so I never have any idea whether I am skipping a period or pregnant, and it's hard to time when I should take the test. Recently, I've had some pinching in my uterus area. That area also feels harder under my skin than anywhere else in my stomach area. My roommate, who had a baby a year ago, told me that she had the same pinching before she found out she was pregnant. Did anyone else experience this?

I was just wodering if anyone had any ideas about a type of shower that I could throw myself...something lik a baby naming party or somehing of that nature. Its not for gifts or anything like that but something I could put pictures in the baby book for memories and all. Thak you in advance.

I had a D&C last friday. I was suppose to have it a week before, but couldn't do it. Now that I have, I'm pretty nervouse about hurting myself. I'm still bleeding slightly, more like spotting. Is it safe to have sex again if we use a condom? Or could that still cause an infection do to tearing? Thanks for your answers.

I am 39++ weeks pregnant and i just came back from the hospital.I have my contraction on every 5-6 mins and my cervix is around 2cm.Is this the sign I am going in labour or it is normal?The doctor there told me its going to be a few more days.Must I transfer to another hospital as they ask me to go back just now.

i want to get a subscription to a pregnancy magazine, but i can't find any in stores around here (??) to look at... so i'm not sure which one is good? i want some good info about childbirth also, and i'm all for exercise & would prefer natural (nonmedicated) birth, so i don't want the magazine to ignore that option (i want to know all about epidurals, also, just in case!).

also, do they only do 6 month subscriptions? or at least have stuff about childbirth & babies too?

I had one white & one black partner, became pregnant, not sure who the father is. I delivered a healthy son who looks very white except he was born with dark brown testicles that are turning black. Does this mean the father is black?

I have a 7month old son and am now 10weeks pregnate. The pregnacy is totally different, with my son I was stomic sick 24/7 lost 15lbs in my first 3months, had no headackes though and was tired all the time. This time I don't feel sick to my stomic but have horrible headackes and have gained 1lbs. Could this mean that this one is a girl becuase my last was so different and a boy????

Have you or do you know of anyone who used a hot tub during pregnancy and the baby turned out fine? If so, how far along were you and how long did you stay in the hot tub?

Or vice versa, have you used a hot tub during pregnancy and you had a miscarriage or your baby was born with birth defects?

I am 38 weeks preg 39 on monday. I have not been sleeping very well because I get energy spurts. The baby has dropped and I am able to eat more now. But this morning I woke up with really bad lower back pains and have been having slight pains through out my stomach. Is this any indication that labor is near? This is my first child.
