So my period isn't actually due until the 26th, but I am still worried I may be pregnant.

I went to my yearly checkup last week and had a pap test, etc. And she felt my cervix or whatever the heck they are doing when they prod you're parts.

I didn't get a pregnancy test because I wasn't too worried at that time, but would she have noticed if I was pregnant? She said everything looked normal and didn't mention my uterus being larger or anything.

And thought I am not sure if a pap test can determine pregnancy, I doubt they check for that if it can, would that have said anything?

I know the simple answer is to go buy an EPT but I think I should wait till my period is actually late before wasting $15 on a test. I have done that too many times before ;-)

This is for the person with the inconsiderate response...

I do use birth control, thank you. And I usually use condoms but there was one time I didn't this last month, as is the basis for my concern. I've had issues, unrelated to pregnancy, in the past with the pill so I just wanted to know if maybe my doc would have already told me if I was pregnant - wishful thinking it sounds like ;-)

I am also in a Monogomas relationship and it's been that way for the past... gosh 6 years? My condom use isn't really to prevent STD's as I am not particularly worried.

It was too early to determine pregnant based on a physical exam. At that point the egg probably wouldn't have implanted, before implantation there is no change to the woman's body (and arguably you aren't pregnant yet). Implantation happens 6-12 days after ovulation.

Just get some dollar store tests, check out this and you will see that the dollar tree test is as sensitive or more sensitive than the EPT (there are a few kinds of EPT with different sensitivities). Or you can just wait *lol*. But you can get 15 dollar store tests and test every day for the next 15 days for the same price as one EPT ;-)

Also if you are TTC you might look into getting tests in bulk, many places online and even a few drugstores carry the dipstick type tests which are the same as the home tests except they don't have the nice plastic case. You have to pee in a cup to use them, but I do that anyway it's easier. If it is too gross you can either a) buy cheap disposable plastic cups or b) buy a glass that you only use for pee.

Well, even at a doctor's office a pregnancy test wouldn't have worked until just before your period is due anyway. I've heard that your cervix looks different when you are pregnant, but I'm not sure if that's true or how soon it changes. But even if you were pregnant your baby would have only been a couple of days old and still not even implanted. There's really no way your doctor would've been able to tell, that I know of. But good luck with the pregnancy test!

Wait til your period is late, and no the ob/gyn would not be able to tell if you were pregnant by doing the pap smear and exam. They would have you take their office ept test or blood test if you asked to see if you were pregnant. They won't even have you come in until about 6-12 weeks because they usually wouldn't be able to see or hear anything by doppler or ultrasound. The only way they would know you are pregnant is by urine or blood!

That early...I doubt they would have seen anything unusual. I know your cervix will change color when you get pregnant, but I am not sure when that is detected.

Pap smears look for cancerous cells (or precancerous changes in cells). It would not detect a pregnancy.

In any case, yes, wait and see if you are late. I would wait a week after I expect my period. And use first morning urine. That way you are more likely to get reliable results.

At such an early stage, most GYNs won't know you're pregnant unless they specifically test you for it. Occasionally, you'll run across one who can spot very tiny physical changes that indicate you may be pregnant (my great grandmother could do that).

The disturbing part of this though is that this isn't your first pregnancy scare and you haven't changed your behaviour. to quote you, "...I should wait till my period is actually late before wasting $15 on a test. I have done that too many times before."

Not only are you risking pregnancy, but you're risking contracting potentially life threatening disease. Is it really worth it to risk your health and possibly your life for a lay?

A condom costs a hell of a lot less than a pregnancy test and way less than medical care for STDs

there are alot of symptoms. Some women feel them and some don't. Every women is different! no women has the same pregnancy experience. Besides your missed periods. The test is really the only thing. or you can wait untill you start showing (which depends on your size) or you can wait untill the baby starts to kick. Or even wait till the baby comes out. lol

I don't think there is no way of telling by just looking. I'm sure it may have showed up on your urine test if it isn't too early. Just wait til you miss your first period and then verify it by taking a home pregnancy test and then again with your doctor.

To my knowledge last week upon your exam they wouldn't have noticed you were pregnant because you would've just been implanting and too early to tell on exam. Only blood test would have picked up hcg and that's 36 hours passed implantation I think. Buy a cheaper test at the dollar store or find one one sale and test Monday. Who knows!
