i have the bebe sounds heart monitor, yes alot of people bash it and say they never work but if you read the directions that come with the monitor it clearly states that it is for women in their 3rd trimester and that you need to use it in a room free from commotion (or alot of noises) i have it and i hear my babys heartbeat on it all the time, i even recorded it onto my computer and sent it to my mom :) Around the 3rd trimester you can use a stethoscope too becuase the baby is big enough that it will pick it up easier. If you want to hear it anytime between 12 weeks on you can always buy or rent a dopplar (like what they use at the dr office) it might take a while to find it but then again with the way the baby moves around in there you can probably guess why lol.

I have one of those home heart listeners with the headphones and it never worked. I am 37 weeks preggo and it still never worked for me!! In like the second trimester I would freak out thinking that something was wrong with the baby since I could never hear his heart beat. Turns out that the stupid thing doesnt work and I know other women who have used it and they cant hear the heart beat either.

If it is one of the cheap ones from Motherhood Maternity it will never work, unless you are VERY thin, a stethascope really won't work until you are very pregnant- if you ordered a real dopler, like the ones your doctor uses, you might get a heart beat as early as 10 weeks but it is not unusual to not get one until 12 or 13 weeks. I would take the dopler to your doctor and have them show you how to find the heart beat so you don't freak out if you can't find it.

If you mean the one buy for home use, with the ear phones, it started working for me at 28 weeks. I would listen to my daughter's heartbeat everyday. My friend had the same one, and she could never the heartbeat though.
* I am really thin and my friend isn't, so that may have played into it as other's have mentioned.

You mean a stethascope. You will hear the heart beat at 6-8 weeks. You can get them at medical supply stores, but its better to have a doc or nurse do this, monitor your pregnancy.

Most I looked at say AS EARLY AS 10 weeks. You should be careful with those because you don't want to stress yourself out when you can't hear it or if you have trouble finding the heartbeat..it's much easier to hear it during the last trimester.

I agree with Jess, I had one and only heard the heart beat maybe 3 times the whole pregnancy! I had to lay completely flat with everything off (tv, radio, washer and dryer) and everything silent! Its great for eavesdropping but not so good for fetal sounds. GOOD LUCK!
