They will ususally do an ultrasound between 16 and 20 weeks to determine the gender of the baby if you want to know. Be careful of an early ultrasound though, sometimes it can take till 18 or 19 weeks for the boy parts to drop so that they are visible. My bestfriend went at 16 weeks because she was so excited she wanted it done as earliest as possible, they told her it was a girl. At 22 weeks when she went and did a 3D it was a boy.....Talk to your doctor!! Good luck

With my daughter I had my first ultrasound at 20 weeks and they said she was a girl. This time I had my first ultrasound at 17 weeks and they said it was a boy. I had a level 2 ultrasound a few weeks ago and its still a boy. Sometimes it may be hard for them to tell what the sex is for instance if the genital area is covered or the baby is shy :). Good luck to you.

It is possible at 17 1/2 weeks to find out what it is, assuming baby cooperates. Typically they do the "big" ultrasound around 20 weeks just because the baby is more developed and things are easier to see on a bigger target. They may just wait until your appointment the month after the next one to be positive, but you never know. I guess that would put you just over 21 weeks so my guess would be that is when you are going to find out. Good luck & congratulations on your new addition!!

I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and had my second visit to the doctor yesterday. I could see my baby's hands and legs! I could also hear the heartbeat a second time, because I could hear it at my first visit...and it's an amazing feeling seeing my baby move inside of me and be so beautiful!!!!...LOL. Anyway, my doctor told me I should be able to know the gender by next visit, which is ...when I'm almost 17 weeks...HOPEFULLY I can see my baby's thingy so I can start buying clothes and stuff!!!! I'm so excited :)

They usually check the sex between 18-22 weeks. But Fair warning dont get your hopes up!! If your baby isn't in the right position, they wont be able to tell you....it took forever for me to find out the sex, because the first time, the babyhad her legs closed, the second time she had one foot down one foot up, so you never know if there was soemthing in between there sticking up with her foot, then finally they got a pic of her looking like she was siting on a sheet of glass with her legs open! You could see everything! lol. But normally its between 18-22 weeks. But I think the genitals are formed by 16 weeks! Best of luck to you!

I don't remember exactly when they can tell, but with my oldest daughter, I didn't want to know. Everyone else wanted to and because I was going to be raising the baby by myself (along with the love and support of my friends and family), I let my mother find out that little tidbit of information at the doctors appointment. I made her promise not to tell me and everyone else knew my wishes. Nobody said a word.
Then as the baby shower approached, I decided to let my mother put the sex of the baby on the inside of the shower invitations.....still, nobody said a word.
On the day of the shower, as I walked into that room, I screamed out "looks like we're having a little ______(my daughter's name)!!! Everything was done in pink!!!
I can't imagine doing things any differently. It was absolutely beautiful.
Congratulations and best wishes to you.

They can usually tell after 16 weeks, but on some people it takes longer. Provided that your baby is cooperative, they should be able to determine the sex for you by your next check-up.

I found out at 19 weeks. At 17 weeks they thought it was a girl but wouldn't tell me for sure. It ended up being a girl!
