I had a D&C last friday. I was suppose to have it a week before, but couldn't do it. Now that I have, I'm pretty nervouse about hurting myself. I'm still bleeding slightly, more like spotting. Is it safe to have sex again if we use a condom? Or could that still cause an infection do to tearing? Thanks for your answers.

After my D&C, my OB told me to treat my body as though I had given birth, and give myself at least 4-6 weeks to heal, and to minimize the risk for infection.

But your doc might say something different, I've heard some say you can have sex as soon as the bleeding has completely stopped, so I think you should call the office and ask a nurse. Better safe than sorry.

Sorry for your loss. Take care.

Since the D&C is opening your cervix, you can be more at risk for infection. Usually, you should not place anything into your vagina, including tampons, until your provider says it is safe. Usuualy you will have a follow up appointment to ensure proper healing, and if everything looks okay they will then give you the green light. In the meantime, call your provider to be sure what THEY recomend.

I think you should wait I think like 4 weeks. You need time to heal and it is very easy to get pregnant again ( I did) and that is not good for your body. But If you do I would definitely use a condom!

Call up your doc, or go to web MD. But I am seeing someone right now and her doctor said like 3-4 weeks after her DC. I circled the date!

i had a D&C on sat. aug 18 after I miscarried. My doctor said no sex or anything vaginally.......douches/tampons etc. for at least 4 weeks.
give yourself time to rest and heal. You may not be sore from pushing, but your body thinks it had a baby so take it easy.

your dr should have advised you on how long to wait, its usually a few weeks to a month. Call them for more advice, and don't do anything until then.
