I am 39++ weeks pregnant and i just came back from the hospital.I have my contraction on every 5-6 mins and my cervix is around 2cm.Is this the sign I am going in labour or it is normal? The doctor there told me its going to be a few more days.Must I transfer to another hospital as they ask me to go back just now.

No need to transfer. Just wait and see what happens with your contractions. When they are less than 5 minutes apart and it's hard to talk through them, go back to the hospital and chances are they will admit you.

I'm confused. Why do you need to transfer to another hospital?

Did you see your doctor at the hospital, or did he tell you that it would be a few more days at your last clinic visit? Were you at the hospital because you thought you were in labor but they determined you either were not, or are in such early labor you don't need to be admitted?

If you called them and they said to come back, then go back and get checked again, maybe your cervix has changed since they last checked, and you're now finally in active labor and they can admit you.

Relax, even if you are in labor you most likely will spend hours there. Best and easiest way to get thru this stage is engage in normal activity and try to take your mind off of it. When they get to be insistant, intense where you can't hardly breath thru it, go to the hospital. In any eventuallity, going to hospital several times on false alarms is not so bad when you consider you are doing it for the health of your baby. A little embarassment is nothing to being a concerned and pro-active mom. GL with your new baby :)

I'd say you are very close. That far along and that close together, I'm surprised they sent you home. Really surprised they didn't just go ahead and admit you and start pitocin. But, they are probably hoping you'll wait until after the weekend. Docs hate to have patients in the hospital over the weekend. Had this been a Monday, I guarantee you they would have admitted you.

you can be 2 cm for weeks, and they could be braxton hicks, but just keep and eye on them and if they get closer I would go to the hosipital
