How important is baby sign language? Is it hard to teach to your baby? What age should you start at? My daughter is 5 months old is it to early? Is baby sign language really helpful in your every day life with your baby?

A couple months ago my doctor was giving me a breast exam and commented that my nipples were flat and this might make it difficult to breastfeed. She said that they will probably protrude by themselves by birth, but if they don't I might need an injection to make them protrude? I'm 28 weeks and they are still flat. When are they supposed to protrude if they will? Has anyone successfully breastfed with flat nipples?

He will be 3 month old tomorrow and i've noticed in the past few days he has been getting lil red pimples on his face/forehead/chin. I'm assuming its baby acne but doesn't that happened right after birth and clears up after a few weeks? Could this be from kissing him a lot? What can i do to clear up my lil 3 month old cute face again?

Is it ok to let my newborn "cry it out"? I can't stop her crying to begin with but I do everything I can to try. When nothing works and I get frustrated is it ok to let her cry it out? Someone told me she was too young for that and it would cause trust issues, is this true? Anyone have experience?

I could really use your help. There is just soo much information, I can't think straight.. I'm due in 7 weeks w/ my first baby. I'm getting hit from both sides on what to do.
If I decide to opt out of immunizing my baby, how do i do that in Illinois.. This is NOT for religious reasonings....but If I have to say it is I will. Also, where do I find forms, and why when I call a doc office to ask some questions i cannot get anywhere with them? how will I find one? ugh. please help lessen my confusion.

Okay, I am not asking if you HAVE done this, or if you WOULD. I'm just asking if anyone has ever THOUGHT about it. When you know that your baby is asleep, and going to stay asleep for the next hour or so, have you ever thought of taking 20-30 minutes and running to the store or some other errand with out your baby? Including leaving the baby at home alone? Again, I'm not asking if you ever would, but just if you have ever thought about it. I think it would be interesting to hear everyone's experiences. Thanks.

Is it ok to give an 5 mo old infant unpeeled tangerines, tomatoes, and steamed mustard cabbage to suck on, as if it's a toy? I think it's dangerous because they can accidentally suck out a small piece and choke, but my mother in law insists and keeps giving it to my son.

The plane trip went SO well... she slept, ate, didn't cry, only fussed when she was hungry or tired and stopped quickly when I comforted her. Now that we have arrived at the "in-laws" (last night) she wouldn't fall asleep, when she did it was for only 15-20min no matter where she was sleeping at. Carseat, on my chest, nursing, next to me, with water on (white noise effect)... she finally did sleep around 2am but woke up frequently to nurse. We slept together. I'm trying to keep her comforted. What can I do? Why is his happening? I know it's a new place but I'm using all of her clothes, blankets, going to use same laundry detergent (even though my MIL didnt wash the bedding w/ it like I asked her to)... I feel so bad for her, my poor baby :-( Expierence??? BTW we're here for 3 WEEKS!!! And my husband isn't going to arrive for another 11 days.

throughout my whole pregnancy i've been looking foward to breastfeeding. i love watching my baby nurse she looks so happy and content. i cried like a baby the first time i fed her but im starting to go crazy. i've been having a lot of problems. im tired and just want to be left alone for a while and she wants to eat every 30 minutes. my nipples hurt and i cant figure out whats wrong with her latch. i dont want to quit all together i just need a break every once in a while. i know they say its too early to introduce a bottle because of nipple confusion but i have to do something because she's starting to get hungry and i feel like i just cant do it right now.

what would be the best thing for me to do. should i go out and buy a breast pump and pump for while or should i buy some formula and just use that once or twice so i can get a break. eithre way i still really want to breast feed. i just need a break every once in a while and she has been eating non stop since she was born.

I'm a 27 year old breastfeeding mom and for the past few months I have noticed several tiny fissures on my labia minora and around my clitoral hood. They burn when they appear and itch when they heal. I had a doc examine me and was tested for any and all possible infections/STDs and I was given the all-clear. She said that what I'm experiencing is most likely a mild form of atrophic vulvitis since I'm breastfeeding. She prescribed estrogen creams, but I was hoping there was more I could do because it's really interfering with my day to day routines and I don't even want to think about what it's doing to my sex life.

I'm not going to force my baby to wean yet. What else can I do to help with this problem? What foods contain natural estrogen?

As a side note, I'm also using Mirena (IUD) for birth control. Could this have anything to with the problem? I'm guessing not, but throwing it out there anyway.

Thanks in advance for any helpful answers.

When my son was 3 weeks old he had gotten these pimply rashlike bumps all over his face and chest and under his nose. I also started feeding him Good Start formula around that time (switched from SImilas Advance) and the bumps came shortly after. I took him off Good Start after almost 2 1/2 weeks and the rash went away. Was this baby acne and just coincidence that it came and went like that or a milk protein allergy? I would like to put him back on the Good Start as he pooped good on that, the soy has him going every 3 days and very firm.

My baby is 2 months today, and formula fed since birth, however I was in the store today, and was looking at breast pumps, wow they are expensive. I am really thinking about trying to bring my milk back. Will the breast pump alone do this? And are the electric ones or manual ones better? I want to strictly pump, can you do this? What is the best pump to buy?

For those of you who have babies who were allergic/ sensitive to something in your breast milk, what were the symptoms? When did they show up? What was it that they were having a reaction too?
I thought my daughter just had baby acne, but now it has spread to her shoulders, tummy, and back. Can they get baby acne that far down, or does it sound like a reaction something I'm consuming?

My 5 month old just started solids on Friday and I know that right now his milk intake won't change but I was wondering when solids will start to become a greater source of calories and milk becomes secondary? He has always only eaten 4oz at a time, will this amount increase or decrease with him starting solids and getting older?

For my next baby I'm switching to cloth diapers and I've narrowed it down to two brands - MotherEase (I like the cost-effective one-size option) and FuzziBunz. Any mothers with experience with these two brands? I have two reservations with FuzziBunz.....they are polyester, right? And also, more expensive than MotherEase.
