Is it okay to use the bassinet until we get a crib? We are recieving the playard as a gift and we can't afford a crib right now. He is due the 29th of January. We have to get a car.

There is nothing wrong with that. My son sleeps in a bassinet when he is not sleeping on my chest or in my lap.

Sure, bassinets are great when the babies first born. FYI, my son is 12 months and he's slept in his crib maybe three times (he sleeps with me). If I had to decide what to buy all over again, I would not have even purchased a crib.

Sure that is fine. My son refused to sleep in his crib until he was much older. I think he was around 3 months or so. They can stay in bassinets until they are around 15 lbs, I think. You can check the manual, but I think that's about right.

Bassinets are good for babies upto 3 months. After that you can switch the baby to your bed. I did this and it worked out fine. I never bought a crib.

First, congratulations
It's just fine. It's what we did with our son. He's now 4 months and still sleeping there (raised up platform, not bassinet part).
Blessings to you.

Oh yeah, that's exactly what we used the first week before I decided to co-sleep. I believe the weight limit is 15 lbs, but they're quite nice. I liked to use it for little naps when he wasn't dosing in my ring sling. Now THAT is something you will want to get: a baby carrier of some kind.

I have the same one and my 4 month old son loves sleeping in it. There is no problem with that at all.
