The plane trip went SO well... she slept, ate, didn't cry, only fussed when she was hungry or tired and stopped quickly when I comforted her. Now that we have arrived at the "in-laws" (last night) she wouldn't fall asleep, when she did it was for only 15-20min no matter where she was sleeping at. Carseat, on my chest, nursing, next to me, with water on (white noise effect)... she finally did sleep around 2am but woke up frequently to nurse. We slept together. I'm trying to keep her comforted. What can I do? Why is his happening? I know it's a new place but I'm using all of her clothes, blankets, going to use same laundry detergent (even though my MIL didnt wash the bedding w/ it like I asked her to)... I feel so bad for her, my poor baby :-( Expierence??? BTW we're here for 3 WEEKS!!! And my husband isn't going to arrive for another 11 days.

You just have to stay calm and keep her on the same routine she had at home. If 8 pm is bed time at home, thats when bed time is at grammas. Even if theres a time difference, keep her time the same.

Do the same things for her every night that you do at home, even if it means going to your room and shutting off the lights and just being quiet with her an hour or so before so she can de-stimulate.

Being around new noises and new faces and the whole new energy of the house is hard on babies.

help her sleep often too, if she gets too over tired she wont sleep well at all.

THe biggest thing is just keeping the same routine and the same schedule. Give her a few nights and she'll adjust.

It might help too to run a fan at night to block out the noises for her. That helps my son a lot, home or elsewhere.

Well, my first thought that as you went up in the plane her ears pressurized, but as often happens the ears get too feel full and painful upon landing, then the problems start b/c babies can't 'pop' their ears. Try to give her some tylenol see if that helps. Also perhaps the hour changes have messed her up a little. Just give her some time, nothing ever goes the way you intend w/ kids, so always be prepared for this sort of stuff. Watch her carefully tho, she might be catching a cold/ear infect.

This could have nothing to do with the plane trip. 11 weeks is a tricky age. Some babies just sleep when they feel like it.

She may have an ear problem (like pressure). She may be sick. It could be 100 different things. If it continues, take her to the dr. If you need to sleep, let the inlaws watch her while you get some sleep.

Give it another night. make sure she is awake and active for a while before bed time. If she is not used to sleeping with you, I would put her in a pack n play with her blankets near you. If it continues, i would call her dr. and ask for advice.

you will notice that babies dont like being out of there comfort zone they know when theyre not at home its normal i cant even take my son to my inlaws either without him playing up
but you will be fine ust let him do that other wise you will have to go back home where he feels comfortable

Your baby is reacting to the change in her routine. Try to re-establish the routine you have at home, or as close as possible and she should settle down.

It could be from the elevation. If that is the case, it should resolve on it's own.

Wow she is really young to be going on planes with all those germs. I hope you can see a doctor there if she gets sick.
