yes you can there are 3 different types of depression that follows pregnancy.
1. baby blues - normally happens a few days after the birth, lasts a week or so then goes.
2. post-natal depression - can happen anytime after the birth (sometimes following baby blues) generally needs medication / therapy
3. post-natal depression 2 (cant remember the proper name sorry) this all of a sudden pops up, generally when the baby is older and is really sever.
i wasnt diagnosed with postnatal depression until the health visitor asked me to fill out a form when my daughter was 9 months old and realised i had a problem. previous to that i just carried on thinking i was just being stupid. my daughter is now 25 months old and im still on the medication.
if i was you i would go to the dr and tell them how you feel and get some treatment if its needed as otherwise it will only get worse, trust me i know!

I think anything is possible. You do want to make an appointment with your doctor to be sure. Being a parent takes a lot of sacrifice. Remember, you are good enough and it will all work out in the long run. Try to think more positive thoughts. Good luck to you and have FUN with that growing 7 1/2 month old baby!

You can get PPD at anytime after the birth of you baby, even several months after. I would make an appointment to see your doctor (not the surgery nurse) as soon as you can. You have made the first step already by asking this question.... you will be happier in no time. Good luck :0)

I'd see about talking to ur ob/gyn. If u feel u really need a little something to help u thruout ur day in order to be a better mother then u do what u need to do.
Myself been there done that. I opted not for meds. I have good days and bad days like anyone else and I tell myself that all first time mom's go thru this feeling of being overwhelmed and I can get thru this. Mind over Matter!!! Power of Prayer along with a great support group of family and friends helped me and continues to help me.

Yes, you most def can have it at this stage. I had it and I got help. I also feel that in getting out and meeting people this is what helped alot. I feel looking back that going through it has helped me become a better mother by making me stronger. Join the on line communities, go to parenting classes or do searches ont he net of whats going on around you. I def rec not staying in, thats the worst thing you can do.... Also try and get some you time as well as time with friends and yoru partner if you have one. Good luck! You will get through it.xx

I has prenateal depression when i was 7 months pregnant with my daughter, i new myself that i wasnt right but didnt do anything about it until after the birth... i urge you to go to the doctors just now, i wish i had.. when my daughter was born i found it difficult to bond with her right from the minute she was born, i went to the doctors when she was around 4 weeks old and was put onto anti depressants.. that was 6 years ago and i have just given birth again, thankfully i didnt feel depressed this time.... but really, if you are feeling really low and its not just pregnancy mood swings.. you should go to the docs and have a little chat, that in itself may make you feel better... whats to loose??

Your question made me think it might be.. I always thought PPD is only for first 3 months after baby. but your question made me feel I'm also going through same. my son is 7.5 months & of late I'm feeling so depressed. I cry almost everyday and make fuss out of every small thing.
after reading other's answers I'm feeling YES it could be PPD still hanging in here

Reecpeec mentioned all of it. =) i think of that is probable slightly of the two. That Robin is overwhelmed and is partly depressed b/c she feels inadequate and that the newborn probable does experience that and it ought to be making her uncomfortable round her mommy. yet, such as you mentioned, there are various reasons for postpartum melancholy, and lots of different indications, so with a bit of luck that writers will pass into that besides, somewhat of attempting to make us have faith that Robin is depressed b/c her infant won't end crying. to no longer sound sexist, even though it is so glaring that exchange into written by potential of a guy.

Yes consult a doctor. My baby is 6 months and i still feel it. It could be depression also. If you feel you need help seek it. Dont wait till it gets out of hand. I have mild depression. And if you had thoes feelings before hand having a baby can only amplify them. Talk to a doctor or a friend. If you need help e-mail me.
