went to YAHOO groups was looking for help for parents of special needs children with ADHD that were premies of 22 week gestation, but i came across a site speaking of micr-premies. What exactly is a micro-premie? Would my son who was 22 weeks gestation and birth weight of 1lb 6.2oz qualify?

"To an NICU medical professional, a micro-preemie is defined as a baby that is under 1 ¾ pounds (between 700-800 grams) and is generally born before 26 weeks gestation, but most people prefer to loosen this term up to include any baby under 3 pounds (1500 grams) or under 29 weeks gestation." Earlier this year, the world's youngest baby was delivered in Miami at 21 weeks 6 days gestation. She weighed 10 ounces. Perhaps we read about your son in the newspaper or saw him on the news as a baby surviving after being born at just 22 weeks gestation is a true miracle. He was a good size for 22 weeks, so that was a plus I am sure. Here is a site I came across for moms of micro-preemies http://www.cafemom.com/group/3685?utm_source=YahooSSP&utm_medium=sem&utm_content={creative}&utm_campaign=yahpdsea&utm_term=micro+preemie+mommies&sendroicid=96bb4c75-a43c-485f-b68e-7dbdc2540d19&sendroikwd=micro+preemie+mommies
