I want to use cloth diapers, but how to choose a brand?

For my next baby I'm switching to cloth diapers and I've narrowed it down to two brands - MotherEase (I like the cost-effective one-size option) and FuzziBunz. Any mothers with experience with these two brands? I have two reservations with FuzziBunz.....they are polyester, right? And also, more expensive than MotherEase.

I've used both of those brands, and I like them both. I prefer fitted diapers with a cover for smaller babies, because they're better at containing runny poop. I like pocket diapers for toddlers because they're much easier to get on a squirmy baby that doesn't want to sit still. Plus, the expense is not such an issue after the first year because they don't go through so many sizes.

Good for you for cloth diapering! I don't think you can go too far wrong with either choice.

The fleece in FuzziBunz is polyester. MotherEase diapers also contain a small amount of polyester, but are mostly cotton.

What do you like about these systems? I never used MotherEase, mostly because I didn't like the cost or drying time for all-in-one diapers. If baby wets or poops, the whole thing must be washed, and then dried. With prefold diapers and separate wraps, if baby only wets, you can simply wash the prefold diaper and re-use the wrap. It's a lot cheaper, plus the prefold dries quickly since it unfolds. All-in-ones are great for babysitters or grandparents who may be intimidated by folding a diaper, but are quite expensive for daily use.

We used Fuzzibunz at nighttime because they were the only thing that kept my heavy wetters (and our bed!) dry. The fleece also wicks away moisture, so my daughter's sensitive skin didn't get irritated. Since Fuzzibunz are pocket diapers, you can stuff them with extra prefolds or liners, and they'll absorb a ton (you might need to size up if you're using extra liner inserts). They do require a bit of extra care at wash time, though.

I would suggest trying one of each. I originally thought I wanted to buy a completely differnt type of diaper than I am using now. I really liked the snap type diapers but now prefer cotton contours and wool covers. They seem to stay the driest on my little one month old. If you can try a few different ones before you invest in your favorite. If you want to save money you can get some good deals from this website.

I have some Fuzzi Bunz diapers. They are pretty good, but they are not my favourite diaper. I am not in love with the fit of them, and I find the triangular tabs a little strange.

I have never tried Motherease diapers. If you are wanting a one-size pocket diaper I would highly recommend Jamtots Baby Kanga One-size diapers. These are fantastic diapers and they fit very well for being a one-size diaper. Use them with Jamtots one-size Hemp stuffers for a great absorbent diaper.

If you don't want to use the Fuzzibunz then you shouldn't. There is no need for baby products with polyester in them. You should try the MotherEase. Go with your gut on these things. I used diapers from http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com and they had no polyester in them.

different brands work differently for different people. I would suggest going to www.thanksmama.com and order a variety pack to try out different brands to see what works well for you before spending the money on a whole stash of diapers. My peronal favorites are Happy Heinys and wonderworks. I've treid Bum Genius which many ppl rave about, but they didn't work well for us.
