I had my daughters ears pierced about two months ago. I cleaned and turned them as I was supposed to, but today during her bath I noticed that she had a bubble above one of the backs of the earring and that both backings were caked with sticky brown blood. I tried to clean it off to see what exactly was bleeding, but she kept fidgiting and the gunk was too thick. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

My 6 week old has done this from birth. My Mom says it is wind and it does only happen either after he has fed or just waking up. I know baby's eyes can roll and they smile a bit due to wind but I have noticed he also goes a bit floppy at the same time. If I touch him he stops it. He is very windy and these episodes are usually followed by lots of trumps and burps. Anyone have any ideas - they only last 10 seconds at a time. Thanks

I have a 10 day old little girl, and she's sweet and precious and amazing and I love her, but I am worn out. When will she start to get into more of a routine (as far as eating and sleeping, etc)? Right now I feel like I'm nursing her 24 hours a day, and the only sleep I get is if I doze off in the rocking chair with her. And how do I keep her entertained for the few hours a day that she's awake? The swing is hit or miss, and I'm really running out of ideas!

My husband wants me to breastfeed our baby and I just don't know. I mean I know it's the natural thing to do and it's 'free' but I don't like the idea that this baby will be dependent on my until it's time to stop feeding. And what I mean by that is that my neice was breastfed and whenever she was still small and my sister-in-law had to go somewhere and someone had to watch her, she was just a pain because she only wanted to feed on her moms breasts. And I know you can pump breast milk and by special nipples...I dunno I just don't want that kind of burden to fall on someone who might have to watch my child if I can't be there. Plus I've heard that if you breastfeed, your breasts will stay big...I don't want that lol.

And this is just a side question...but what does it feel like? I mean I know what it's like to have a grown man suck on your nipple...but a baby with no teeth...what's it like? lol.

Did you breastfeed? Were you breastfed? Do you think it really makes a difference?

If that is so, why? isn't the most natural and best way to feed a baby

Last August I gave birth to a 5 pound 3 ounce baby girl,Nevaeh, 7 weeks premature. She was born, basically brain dead and was on life support for about 12 hours before I asked to have her taken off(Dr.'s recommendation and personal choice). During my entire pregnancy I did not do street drugs, I did not smoke or drink alcohol. I did however take Paxil for about 3 months of my pregnancy as I was told it was safe. I also took Xanax during the first month and a half as the inital doctor I went to never told me to stop. However, I was told neither of these were the cause of her state at birth. Nothing was ever irregular during my ultrasounds, her heartbeat was normal, she was at a fairly normal weight(a little low, up until the last month of my pregnancy). I want to know if anyone has any idea why this would happen? I also was very sick during my pregnancy and had about 20 fainting spells. If you wnt more details I'll give them to you, but this seems to haunt me daily.

My son is 9 months old and his nose got a little burnt this afternoon in the sun. (even though we applied SPF 50 about every hour and he was in the shade most of the day...go figure) I read that aloe vera is toxic if ingested so I am afraid to apply it to his face for fear that he will rub it off and get some in his mouth. Is this true? Is there something else I can apply to a sunburn that is safer?

I'm due to give birth right around the same time I begin a REQUIRED summer class. I have no choice but to take it now or I cannot continue in the program.

I'm planning to breastfeed the new baby. Ideally I would like to pump and leave a bottle with the caregiver, but I want to avoid the nipple confusion my first child had when she was born two years ago (problem switching between breast and bottle -- very frustrating).

So now I'm considering just taking him to class with me and taking frequent breaks to nurse and tend to him. As a newborn, he won't do much but eat and sleep so I don't anticipate he'll be too much of a distraction to the other students. I have already cleared it with the professor and he said it would be fine.

But my mother is expressing concern that he'll be exposed to too many germs if I take him to class with me. It's a relatively small class (only about 10 people)... but now she has me thinking I shouldn't do it. What would you do in my situation? Thanks.

How did you keep up with your daily house keeping and personal budget when your newborn came along?

What should i do? Shall i change the pediatrician. Does pediatrician give any tonics or medicines by which the baby can feel more hungry and eat more and become fat. My sons pediatrician says his weight is fine and healthy and does not need any thing else. Iam really worried about him. He is now not ready to eat atall, or he eats very less and drinks very less milk. He is fussy and teething.

Lilly's a week old today, and i know i suld be so happy she's FINALLY out n about, but im not. i just keep looking at her n thinking my life's over now, and then i feel so horrible for thinking such selfish thoughts. i've tried talking to her dad, but she just calls me childish.
i get upset when she crys for seemingly no reason and go to him about this, but i was told to stop being so 'f**king selfish n grow up' i miss being able to walk n see my friends and wee minus any pain!
i know its just baby blues, but when does this go? i dont think i could handle much more of this.

What is the best way to clean baby bottles? How safe is the dishwasher and which soap should I use?

I went to wal-mart to get some formula for my newborn. Shhe has been fussy and gasy, so I looked for something different. I ran across similac sensitive. It says its for fussy and gasy babies, has the same ingredients as her other formula. Funny thing is the it only cost .25 cents.. Why is it so cheap? Is it safe to use?
