I disagree. I think it is ok depending on a few conditions. What type of movie is it? Is it something that is bright and colorful and may attract his/her attention. What time and day are you going? I dont think it would be a good idea on a Friday or Saturday night the first weekeend a movies is out. Maybe consider going on a Subday afternoon or, if possible, during the week when its not as crowded. I actually took my daughter when she was around the same age to go see Shrek 2 with my best friend and her daughter. I carried her in her car seat so she felt more comfortable, and I had no problem with her. She is now 3 and LOVES the movies. She sits in her own seat and pays attention. I think because I intoduced her to them so early its not as scary for her. Yes, I know ever child is different, but maybe this helps. Good Luck!

I want to tell you that it is a bad idea... but the fact is that I went to see "Saving Private Ryan" in a theater when it came out way back when, and someone brought their baby in a stroller to see it. I thought they were nuts! "SPR" is one of the loudest films I've ever been to, but by gosh, you know what? That baby didn't make a peep the entire time. I don't know. I guess they couldn't get a sitter. Maybe they drugged it or something.
In any case, you know your baby better than we do. If that baby is going to cry, then DO NOT BRING IT. If it makes so much as a squeak, then it is inappropriate to have it in a movie theater, end of story. So unless your baby is magic and amazingly mature and quiet, don't. Get a sitter, or skip the theater until your kid's grown up some. It is not right to interrupt other people's viewing pleasure with your whiny kid. Those tickets are too expensive as it is.

I see parents with children in the theatre who sleep peacefully through the entire film and then I see those who have to leave because the loud sound effects wakes the baby. It could go either way, but movie tickets are too expensive to take a chance!

If your baby is asleep and/or very quiet there should be no problem. I'd go for a kid's movie since the noise doesn't matter in these kind of movies. Also if you're going to take your child in an adult movie or one that's not especifically for kids be respectful of the other people. As a movie goer I'm there to watch the movie and not listen to a screaming/loud child. Good luck and be respectful of others.

It depends on how well-behaved your baby is. We brought our baby as well as her big brother and sister to the theater to see the movie Cars when she was about 7 or 8 months. She sat really well for it. She loved watching the animated cars. However if your baby can't sit still, I would get a babysitter for her. Otherwise you won't be able to enjoy the movie. As far as whether the movie will be too loud for her. Movies can be loud, but her ears wouldn't be any more sensitive to it than yours.

I don't recommend it. Not only is the decibel level to high for a child that young, it's rude for others to have to listen to your screaming infant in the theater. Remember that these people paid to see and hear a show, not an unhappy child.

You could, but out of respect for others, I would not. A baby that old, is not going to sit and be quite for an entire movie....It is just better if you find a sitter for a couple of hours. I would wait until they can sit at home and watch a complete movie at home, before taking them out.

I started taking my youngest at 3 months, its fine, but be sure if the baby starts crying to leave instead of making everyone listen. She has gone ever since, but it was kids shows so whe was interested in them off and on (at an older age I mean). I guess it depends on your kids.

Not only is it too loud for her, but it is unfair to the other people in theater to have to listen to her cry if she gets scared or is bothered by the loud noise.
