I went to wal-mart to get some formula for my newborn. Shhe has been fussy and gasy, so I looked for something different. I ran across similac sensitive. It says its for fussy and gasy babies, has the same ingredients as her other formula. Funny thing is the it only cost .25 cents.. Why is it so cheap? Is it safe to use?

OMG...i've never seen any formula that cheap before!
Someone must have switched the price tags or something. Cause no milk is that cheap!
If the can is unopened, and the expiration date is still good, then it will not harm your baby. Good luck for finding baby milk that cheap....i need to go shopping with you sometimes. lol.

If it's not expired it's safe & I can't imagine them selling something like that expired. Too many possible liabilities.
When I worked at Wal-Marts brands that they were no longer going to carry were marked down dirt cheap. They also do this with some things due to expire in 6 months or less. I bought 2 lbs. of a name brand breaded shrimp in Jan. due to expire in July for only $2. I've bought name brands of cereal in full size boxes for 50 cents for the same reason. When Thanksgiving was over frozen turkeys due to expire in 6 months were marked down to a quarter. I even bought a large box of velvetta for $2.
That's why I never go straight into Wal-Marts & out again. It pays to look around.
Anyway with baby formula it's pretty much all the same ingredients it's just the proportions or the way it's mixed. Compare can ingredients. All of them are in the order of amt. The most is first, second most is second, etc. If it is the same then it's a simple case of how it was mixed or an amt. of the gas producer being lessened.
But I'd say it's safe. Alot of people use prescription formulas if it's bad so sensitive formulas don't sell as well anymore. So to have any value at all it has to have time to be used. So it could be that cheap if it expired in Dec. If it's the powdered kind it could be ok indefinitely. But check out the expiration date.
If you're still nervous about using it because you can't find an expiration date call the 800 number & they can tell you by the upc code when it expires. If it has expired alot of companies will send you a coupon for a free one to replace it.

Its ok to buy and its all about name brand. I know this is a off the subject analogy but look at Ford products. The regular F-150 costs twelve to twenty thousand dollars less than the same exact truck only Harley Davidson is printed on the truck. Similac is for poor people that can't afford formula like Enfamil and Gerber. All in all its the same stuff it just doesnt have the over induced amout of iron in it.

They are probably discontinuing the item. When that happens, retailers like Wal-Mart mark down prices to almost nothing to get the item out of the store and off the shelf. If that's not the case, I'm not sure what it is. Chalk it up to good luck if it is not expired or recalled. Formula's not cheap. ;-)

Sounds like a mispriced item. I'd say go back and buy more. You can always check for formula recalls on the net. But if that were the case it would/should have been pulled from the shelves. And if it was outdated it would/should have been pulled from the shelves.

It was mismarked?
If shes gassy and fussy, you may think about relactating. That will probably get rid of the gas altogether.
