Haha... WOW... okay - you need to concentrate on where he SHOULD be before you go jumping to teaching him things far past his age capabilities. Just take the bottle away! He'll be over it in 2 days... not kidding. It'll be hard for 2 whole days and wham bam - he'll love his sippy. You can also start teaching him how to drink out of a regular cup but just putting a little bit of water in a small plastic cup. He'll likely just play with it and spill it all over himself but this is how my 22-mo-old daughter learned. As for the ABC's all you should really be doing right now is singing the ABC's, reading him books, and getting some of those (larger) magnetic letters for the fridge for him to play with. Once he is around letters and starts trying to sing along with you than that is your cue that he's starting to understand the alphabet. Until then relax... your 16 month old son does not need to know the alphabet for AT LEAST another year.

Flashcards are our favorite. Also, just writing and drawing together.

He is still a little YOUNG. We have an alphabet spider that my 20 month old son loves, and he's mastered about 25% of the alphabet.

Just take it slow and remember that boys are usually slower to pick up on things but after 1st or 2nd grade, girls and boys even out.

Also, don't expect too much from him. Just talk to him and show him what things are. We go to a family friend's farm a few times a month so our son can SEE farm animals. Now he loves to make the sound of a pig. :-)

Don't teach him the alphabet first, try teaching him words. Like if he points at a tree, say tree. He'll get the words down, then see that words are made of letters, then figure out the alphabet, become a genius, go to Stanford, Harvard, and MIT ALL AT THE SAME TIME, graduate as a leading nuclear physicist and develop the first cold nuclear reactor.

Parenting is sure something huh?

Dont worry child age differently if he feel comfortable drinking from a bottle let him thats his comfort zone. If he can sit still. play a game with the alphabets.Play name that letter u hid a letter and tell him to go get the letter and say it then see if he picks it up. Or play games that wont stop him from being active. Becasue it might be tiresome for u but believe it or not its great exercise for him. And the #1 key to having Children is to have lots and lots of Patience. Good luck.

give him his milk in a cup and slowly just stop giving him the bottle. Try flavored water (juice isnt healthy) in a cup during mealtime.

the alphabet? Read to him and sing it to him.

16 month olds are not going to be still && calm. Its normal.

I got my son a puzzle to help him with his letters. Laep Frog makes a nice magnet set of letters. There is a little base you stick each letter in and it tels the name of the letter and the sound it makes.

My son didn't give up the bottle until he was nearly three. We got him a sippy cup with his favorite cartoon on it. Thomas the Tank I think. THat seemed to help. Do he get a lot of caffenine. A lot of parents think their kids are hyperactive when they are just acting their age. Give him time to blow off steam outside and cut out caffenine, soda, chocolate. Sugar doesn't make you hyper, that's a wives tale.

infant sign language is a brilliant project! i'm examining up on it because of the fact I plan on utilising it. in fact, it cuts returned on the frustration of the infant because of the fact he/she would be in a position to particular emotions. The coordination skills for language take longer to strengthen ( 15-18 months) yet babies as youthful as 7 months can use the sign language to particular those emotions! that's spectacular! I easily have friends who used it and their babies have all been minimally fussy because of the fact they are in a position to tell you what they like instead of crying and waiting for you to parent it out! many mothers and fathers are in touch that this might stunt infant's verbal skills whilst easily the different has got here upon to be actual. babies who ought to apply sign language, easily had a extra robust, extra superior language base by way of 18 months of age. besides, as you're signing, you're, ideally, speaking the words besides. I easily have examine you are able to start signing to them as early as you like however the earliest you will see the indicators would be 5-7 months.

i would wean him just give him the bottle at night. If you only offer the sippy during the day he will eventually drink from it. When you are trying to get him down for a nap sing them to him that is how i got my 2 year old nephew to learn them.

Start by getting him to memorize ABC, once he gets that then star doing ABCDEF,keep doing that until you get to the end. And remeber to sing them whenever you get the chance, also get anything Leapfrog, my daughter learned sooo much from leapfrog
