I have a new niece due in a couple of months and I want to make headbands to match the outfits I bought her. The problem is I don't know how big to make the headbands. What is the average circumference of a newborns head? I bought the elastic lace, but don't know how long to cut it. ALSO, if anyone has any ideas to use as attachments for bows (velcro, etc) I'd appreciate your input. My "baby girl" just turned 20 and I know a lot has changed since I made bows for her. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

How common is SIDS? I have a perfectly healthy, 9 pound, 4 week old baby girl, and I worry so so much about this. My husband and I follow all the "rules" of preventing SIDS, but I still cant help but worry about her.

my son is nearly 6 mnths old now, when he was a new born he loved being on his belly and about 2 1/2 mths ago he did roll from belly to back twice, but has not rolled either way since Now he hates his tummy time i put him on his tummy 1-2 times a day he is alright for about 4/5 minutes then he starts cracking up. I get on the floor with i have put toys in front and around him , i have even put a mirror in front of him. Midwives say he needs more tummy time for his back and leg mussels to develop so he can learn to crawl but he hates it. He would rather sit up or sit in his walker he can sit holding his head up. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this experience and what would you suggest ...........

More specifically, what is under it? What is squishing under that space in her skull? (I hope I'm not directly poking at her brain!!)

I was just wondering... when did everyone start pumping if you did... and how did it affect your breastfeeding too?

I'm looking to pump some breast milk and to breastfeed my baby at night. She is only 2 weeks old and the nurses at the hospital said to wait till shes 6 weeks... anyone start before that and still breastfeed too?

I'm trying to think of songs I can sing to my newborn at night... lullabies, pop songs, songs from movies, whatever. I'd prefer a soft, sweet tune that will signal to her that it's bedtime.

I am in desperate need of Similac Coupons or checks. My daughter is on Alimentum for a milk protein intollerance. We have tried to get help from insurance to cover it but they won't help. My husband makes $5 too much a week for us to get WIC and our peds. office never has any coupons. Does anyone have any or know of any way I can get them free? I have bid on the on e-bay but I really can't afford to pay 20 some dollars for a few coupons. I don't have many coupons but if someone would want to trade coupons I can see what I can come up with. Please help a desperate mommy!

My friend lost her baby today to what is apparently SIDS. I feel so helpless, not to bring anyone else down with me. I will be going to the funeral, in NJ ( I live in PA). Financially I cannot offer alot to her, as we were both out of work this past week since both of our kids were sick. She and her husband arent doing well financially either. He lost his job around the holidays and they are living in a shelter together with their oldest daughter who is 3, so I cant make them a few meals or anything. What else can I do for her. Besides lend a shoulder. I cannot imagine what she and her family are going through. Her father passed away right before Christmas, and this baby was named after him. Its just so sad. Any advice? I find my self checking on my two sons constantly since I have recieved this news. I have a 10 month old and a 22 month old. Thanks for everyones help in advance.

What did you do to survive? My boy had colic for 3.5 months and i thought i was going to die. I felt like driving off a bridge or into a tree. We sat on the couch for hours plugging our ears and watching him suffer and scream for hours as there was no helping him. They say they dont feel pain with colic, but i think they are wrong! There is definatly pain in their lil bodies as they suffer for hours. He would scream so hard he would turn purple and baisicly stop breathing ,clinch his hands and his body was so tense he felt like you could snap him if you touched him.But by about 4 months he finally cheered up and grew out of this stage. Yes there is hope but it is a LONG road. I think ppl thought we didnt love our child because we were so miserable and unhappy with very little good to say about our little one but that was not the case, just wasnt a fun time. So if you go through this it WILL end ,just not any time soon. Just dont drive into a tree or off a bridge.Whats your colic stories?

I am almost 33 weeks pregnant and still have no signs of lactation. Is this normal?
All my friends said they did before this and a friend that is due the same day as myself, has been leaking for about 6-7 weeks.
Should I be worried?

i am trying to train my five month old to drink from a sippy cup
his father thinks he is too young but it is working i just would prefer if his transitional object is something other than something he puts in his mouth....keep in mind he has taken to the sippy cup well and i had a terrible time ripping the bottle away from my two other children who both still chew on random objects to satisfy there oral fixation because i let them have the bottle for so long.i am just trying to learn from my mistakes am i wrong

After my SIL has her baby we are going to their house for a few days. She thought maybe we could cook for her. We live about 7 hours from her house so I was thinking maybe I'd make a couple dinners at my house and then freeze them and take them with us when we go. The only problem is, I don't know what would be safe with her nursing. Does anyone have any good recipe ideas that I can also freeze and then warm in the oven or whatever when we get there??
