I just read an article on this, and it said that at age 3 they don't need naps but do need quite time or play quietly by themselves. I personally think they need a nap. I remember when I was young I was taking naps up to age 5.

Yes, it's perfectly normal for his age. Toddlers go through a phase between the age of 2 and 3 where they just stop taking naps. The majority of kids go back to taking short naps when they are 4, but obviously not all 4 year olds.

My daughter stopped napping all together when she was a year old. She was in bed at 7:30 every night.

that's exactly my 3yo daughters's self chosen scheduel! no nap, 8am to 8 pm. it's like clockwork. as long as they sleep at night, and wakeup in the morning, it's all good(12 hours sleep is about normal this age)

That is fine as long as you try. But you have to be the parent and not let them boss you around no matter how hard of a time they give you. Otherwise you will have no control. I still make my 4 yr old take some quiet time.

That is what is normal! :-) As long as he gets enough sleep it really doesen't matter when it is, as long as it's ok with you
