well i would say it depends on the child......as for the oragel and anything you would rub on the child/babys gums DONT USE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! new study that just came out it makes there gums hard and that makes it twice as bad for children. pushing teeth through.
theres lots of remedys for a teething child/baby well you can use a cold or frozen wash cloth or a teething ring that you put in the freezer or refrigerator. or you can try there binki put a little water on it and freeze it.
i found out thats the only thing my daughter would take. her doctor told me that was because shes use to sucking on it off and on when she wants so shes use to the taste and feeling of it in her mouth. but all babys are different so it all depends.

Hylands Teething Tablets.

If those dont work, which is rare, I'll use Motrin. My 8 month old daughter has been teething off and on since she was 4 1/2 months old and they were recommended by our pediatrician.

edit- You can find them in the baby aisle at most grocery/drug stores by the Oragel. Target doesnt carry them.

CARROTS!!! I would not use this if my child were real young, but when my daughter was 7 month, she was getting 2 teeth in at once. It was not fun, so I gave her a nice size carrot. You want the carrot to be large enough for her to hold, but small enough for her to gnaw on and cold. This is a healthy way to help with teething. My daughter is now 10 months with 7 teeth and loves carrots.
