Mine isn't hear yet, but I am bringing a footed sleeper. It is something basic yet cute. My friends all said not to get too complicated because many of the clothes do not fit right because they are so tiny. Make sure you get NB not NB-3months or even a preemie outfit just in case.
This is a good question, I almost asked it once myself before getting advice some from friends. I assume you are asking more for pictures and stuff.

Kinda depends on the weather for most new parents. When i brought my son home from the hospital it was mid December.
I had him dressed in a Cookie Monster button up Jammies, matching hat, mittens, socks and blanket. ( ireally liked cookie Monster:)
One rule of thumb is that a baby is just like you. Don't make them wear clothes that you would not be comfortable in. I learned that the hard way. I tended to always dress him a little too warmly:)

My daughter wore an expensive pink dress my dad gave me for a baby gift. It was a little big but as soon as we got home she had to go into a "bili-bed" (only wearing a diaper)since she had a bad case of jaundice.

They wore a baby sleeper b/c it was spring or fall and each of them wore a little Hudson Bay Knitted Sweater that their auntie had made for them. Each of my four girls have their own little sweater made from the same pattern. They adore them, and 21 years ago, the Cabbage Patch doll was the rage and the pattern was originally intended for the doll!

I found a really pretty little dress for my daughter. It was navy blue. Tights and little crochet slippers. My son was preemie so I wore a little sleeper on him...it was white and really cute. And small! holy cow, I look at it now and it is just tiny!

We went home in December. He wore a brown onesie, blue track pants, and a blue sweater that said "I am so cute" on it.
