Well, when you first deliver, the liquid that comes out of your breasts is called colostrum. After a few days, regular milk will come in. The amount will increase with each feeding.

It depends on the person. You absolutely do not get your milk before delivery. It's the change in hormones that causes your milk to come in, you have to deliver to get those changes in hormones. Before your milk comes in you produce colostrum, which is the perfect food for a newborn. It contains many antibodies that protects your baby from many viruses and illnesses. It can take up to ten days to get your milk in, it just depends on the person.

For the first three days after baby is born you have something called colostrum which is still nutritious for baby but a little different. I think it is possible for you to leak a little of this before the baby is born. My mother said she woke up a couple of times with a wet nightgown.

actually you CAN get it before you deliver..it is not constant like it will be after- but you can leak and possibly need pads in your bra. the more water you drink the sooner your milk comes in..drink about a gallon a day, and you'll be nursing after delivery!

I had my baby on a Wed night and my milk came in while I was napping that Saturday. I don't know of anyone that has got it in before they deliver.
All I know is that if the baby does not drain your breasts, then you get clogged ducts and mastitis and it just sucks!

my milk came in 2 days after i delivered.....i didn't find it too painful, but if you breastfeed, don't quit cold turkey.....that's what i did, and my breasts became very engorged, and they got infected which totally sucked
