My wife, baby boy and I will be taking a long haul (11.5 hour) flight to South Africa. Any general advice about flying with an 18 month old infant will be appreciated.

I was a the store today and a lady came up and asked to hold my daughter. Shes 6 months old. My 21 month old son was in the cart as well. I politely told her no and she got angry and told me I was rude! I'm sorry if I don't trust anyone that I don't know, but there are too many dangerous people out there! Hasn't she seen the news? How do I know she wasn't going to take her and run? She didnt have a shopping cart or a purse and seemed to be alone until I saw her later leaving with a guy. Am I so wrong to protect my child? Why was I so 'rude'? I think she was looking for trouble to tell the truth!

Im a nanny for a 2 yr old & a 4 mo. old. Im with them 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. As much as I absolutely love them both the baby is already very spoiled. I never thought babies were "spoiled" & what I mean by this is that her parents hold her all day, they hate when she cries so they wont let her & pick her up. So now during the day when I have her if I put her down anywhere she screams & gets herself all overworked so fast & the second I pick her up she stops...Im talking immediately. I feel bad and of course dont want her to cry but I cant do that 12 hours a day & its not fair to the 2 yr old. When she naps during the day she needs to be rocked to sleep or constantly bounced in her seat until shes out cold and even then every little noise startles her, I try to leave the tv always on or some noise so she gets used to it, but I dont know what Im supposed to do about her crying unless shes being held...

My naive and pregnant 17-yr old sister would like to name her baby, "Evah Sophie"

Am I the only one who thinks this is a horrible name?

How do I tell her that it is a bad name?

What other middle names go with "Evah" (silent h...and I hate the H too by the way...)

I noticed that the stores are selling formula for 12-24 month olds. I didn't think babies needed the formula past 12 months. Shouldn't they just have regular milk and dairy products after they turn a year old?

In the month or so that I've been giving her solids, I've noticed distinct preferences for only non-green veggies. I've tried peas and green beans and she makes gagging expressions and spits them out. I revisited the vegetables multiple times but she still hates it and ends up making the feeding experience unpleasant. My caregiver says that I should force the issue to make her like non-sweet vegetables, but I say that feeding, esp. when it is introductory should be a pleasant experience, not cramming something unwanted into an unwilling mouth. If she chooses to only eat carrots, sweet potatoes and squash her entire life, she'd do well. Better than my no veggie husband. Any tips or should I just give up and move on. Maybe when she is finger eating she'll enjoy them. (we are on stage 1 by the way).

I am very proud of my 5 month old baby girl, and I love her soooo much, but i don't feel like a mommy yet. I guess its because i haven't heard her say mommy. I just don't think its kicked in. I don't think of myself as the mommy type. I'm only 20, but I'm responsible with my daughter and I think I'm a good mommy. Is this normal or is it because of my age? Has any other mommies (or daddies) felt this way too?

My boyfriend and I are babysitting my 4 1/2 month old niece this whole weekend. It is supposed to be nice weather and we will have the stroller....so I know walks would be good and showing her things outside, but what other activities are fun for them at that age?
Trying to choose my words very carefully...she does not do many activities on a daily basis at home, is mostly put in her baby seat. I have noticed other times when I babysit she seems to be overstimulated and get fussy since she is not used to recieving as much attention as she gets with us. I don't want a fussy baby all weekend, but want to teach her things, show her things, and let her have fun......any ideas??

Im so excited to be able to spend time with her and want to make this an enjoyable 'vacation' for her, I appreciate everyones help!

The doc says 8 months but my friends and family say 6 months or when they can sit up. My kid HATES baby food and I think he might like something a bit more substantive. Your thoughts...

My neighbor recently gave birth to a little beautiful baby girl. 22inches and 6lbs 9oz. (first couple of days she lost 1lbs) The infant is 8wks now and so far she has gained 15lbs. She looks like a little beach ball. She is being feed every 3hrs/4oz. My question is "how much and how often are you suppose to feed an infant who's 8wks" I'm just curious-personally I don't know jack about babies expect what I read in those parenting books. But 15lbs in matter of 7wks just sounded a lot. That's like 2lbs every week.
Thanks in Advance.

My 10 month old daughter just doesnt eat proply. Most of the time she doesnt want to eat and we can only manage to get a few spoonfuls down her, when she does eat she only eats very very small portions, which is around 2 dessert spoonfuls. Also, she wont eat foods with lumps, ive tried adding a few tiny lumps to her foods but she seems to bork on them even know they are tiny and very soft lumps, i have to puree her foods up very thinly to get her to eat when she is actually hungry. Ive also tried finger foods too, she may nibble on a piece of toast or bread but throws it away after a little nibble, ive tried cheese, potatoes, etc, but she desnt seem interested. How can i get her to eat regular meals without missing any and how can i get her to eat small lumpy foods?

my 3 month old is extremely fussy. I took his temp and it showed 39.2 celsius. I already made a dr appointment but I would really like to calm down by hearing other mothers tales. I feel like I did something wrong, why did my baby get fever at such a young age?
I am extremely nervous, the worst things are on my mind, please someone help!
