My 10 month old daughter just doesnt eat proply. Most of the time she doesnt want to eat and we can only manage to get a few spoonfuls down her, when she does eat she only eats very very small portions, which is around 2 dessert spoonfuls. Also, she wont eat foods with lumps, ive tried adding a few tiny lumps to her foods but she seems to bork on them even know they are tiny and very soft lumps, i have to puree her foods up very thinly to get her to eat when she is actually hungry. Ive also tried finger foods too, she may nibble on a piece of toast or bread but throws it away after a little nibble, ive tried cheese, potatoes, etc, but she desnt seem interested. How can i get her to eat regular meals without missing any and how can i get her to eat small lumpy foods?

I have an 11 month year old as well. She eats just about anything we put in front of her...but it wasn't always like this. You have to remember that they are just learning to eat this way and some babies take more time than others. KEEP YOUR SCHEDULE. Thats the most important thing. Have a set breakfast, Lunch and dinner time, and don't deviate from it. Maybe you should stop trying to puree her foods and bit the bullet and buy some at the store. She is probably up to #3's by now..but you might want to start with the #2's because she is finiky.

I read a study about babies who were introduced to peas. They fed the babies peas for 10 days, each baby had never had them before....by the end of the 10 days the babies were eating 2x as many peas as they did the first day. This means that babys actually acquire a taste for something and will eat more of it if given the chance.

Stick to the routine and your next question may be " How do I stop my 1 year old from eating us out of house and home"

Good luck

If you are seeing a change in her weight where she is not gaining any or loosing consult your doctor there may be something mediaclly wrong, such as a throat problem. Or just be patient, if you can fid something that she really likes and doesn't fuss over giver her more of that if it is healthy for her. Try not to let her fill up on liquids prior to dinner time or lunch. Try to gerber baby food stage 2, they are still pureed and she'll be getting her nutrients.

When all else fails be patient, she's only 10 months, she has to get used to the texture of solid foods.

Is she teething? My daughter is now 11 months old, and her worst teething pain was at 10 months.

Don't pressure her. If she won't start "solids", give her as much formula as she wants, and slowly wean her off.

There will be a point where she really wants solids. At this point, I give my daughter plain formula when she gets up, 2 solid meals during the day, and 8 oz of formula with rice before bed.

Is your daughter walking yet? Crawling a lot? Normally a kid who is really active will be so hungry, they will eat everything. Talk to your pediatrician about it, but so many kids are different.

Have you tried giving her baby tylenol for the tooth pain?

Just a hunch, but check with the doc.

She's 10 months so she probably is still on formula, so don't worry about the appetite. If she is walking,as she becomes more mobile her appetite will increase. Then you put what finger food you want her to eat on her high chair tray, she'll do the rest.If you are worried about nutrition---does she drink cereal with her formula? My daughter got my grandsons appetite to increase by adding cereal to his bedtime formula, when he slept thru the night, he woke hungry. She gave food, not a bottle for his first meal of the day...He's fine now and eats everything.......

Try giving her some yogurt. It's very smooth in texture and has good nutrients. Offer applesauce and pudding. If she doesn't go for that, try Ensure drinks and continue to offer her different foods until she gets through this phase. It's not unusual for a child to go through funny phases with food.

Is your little girl filling her tummy up with liquids (milk, juice)? If so, I would refrain from giving her any liquid with her meals. After meals, you can then let her have her milk, etc. If not, from what you describe she should be looked at by a physician. How is her weight? Is she underweight or does she get most of her calories from milk, etc?
Have her checked out...

If she's not losing weight, leave her alone about it. She's 10 months old for Pete's sake. When she knows better what food is she'll change.

put different nutritional finger foods on her high chair tray and let her try them all then find the one she seems to be eating more and stick with that for a while, it worked for my picky one.
