How about when she is old enough to ask for them and care for them herself?

Technically your baby is old enough to have her ears pierced now, but I would recommend some caution. Baby's like to grab things and pull on them. Also babies go through different stages of discovery. Your baby will very shortly be discovering things like her ears, nose, mouth, toes, etc. When she does discover her ears and finds earrings in them she is likely to pull on the ear rings. There are three possible outcomes...either she Will not pull on them hard enough to cause any problems, she will pull the earrings hard enough to cause chapped ears or infections, or she will pull the ear rings out and could possibly put them in her mouth (a choking hazard). My recommendation is to watch her and take note of when she starts playing with her ears. Then continue to watch her to see when she losses interest in pulling on them. Every baby is different and this may take some time. I have a 1 year old myself who I have still not allowed to have pierced ears. She still pulls on her ears when she is tired and I don't want her to get any ear rings out. My best friend has a 6 month old who lost interest in her ears a month ago. She has has ear rings for 3 weeks now and has had 1 infection that cleared quickly.

i got my daughter's ears pierced when she was 4 months old. but it also depends on the place where you get them done at. you need to take care of them very well too. make sure they don't get infected. i would make sure she has had a tetanus shot before you get them done. other than that, good luck! and its hard keeping them from falling out too! i've gone through at least 100 pairs of earrings.

i was told not in till they have had there first set of shots so around 3 months old! i did it at that time with both my girls and it was quick and easy yes they cried but only for the time we held their head still and because they where so little they did not mess with them and i was able to control the cleanliness of them and they healed wonderfully and we have never had a problem with them and they are 9 and 5 so good luck!

Whenever the scream and pain she's going to get from it isn't going to make you feel guilty. I don't suggest it until they are at least 6 months old just because if she ends up with an infection from them (it's possible) it wont be so detrimental on her health.

You can get them pierced at 6 weeks, but why dont you just wait till shes old enough to make the decision herself?
