My husband and I want to take our 1 and 5 year olds on a vacation during the february school break. Does anyone have any ideas of a good aquarium or indoor theme park or some fun place to go to? Does anyone live in a city that has something really great for kids? We want to find a nice hotel and just relax for a few days, and we want the kids to have a great time! Someone must know of a city that has something really awesome for kids to do! Thanks!!!

We live togother and she stopped working in late October and I have been supporting them since then. She worked before then. Who would be the best to claim our child on their taxes?

I have a four-month-old daughter. With the exception of rice cereal at night, she is exclusively breast-fed. She went from only getting up twice during the night to nurse to now waking four to five times during the last three weeks. Needless to say I am exhausted trying to keep up with this. I asked our family doctor what happened. She said to wait a couple weeks and if this routine doesn’t subside to start feeding her rice cereal before bed. I started her on cereal one week ago and no change. Our little girl has no problems going to sleep it’s just staying asleep. She takes two three-hour naps during the day. I’ve tried not letting her sleep for longer than two hours during her naps, no change. I’ve tried putting a shirt I’ve worn that has my sent in her bassinette while she sleeps, no change. I am running out of ideas. The only thing I haven’t tried is letting her cry herself back to sleep when she wakes up. I’ve been told this works- but I really really hesitate to try this.

I have a 5 week old baby and he finally is on a formula that he can keep down. He has gained 1pound 2 ounces in a week after not gaining weight due to him getting sick from the formula. He usually drinks 3 to 4 oz in 2 to 3 hours. Last night he drank 10 oz in 3 1/2 hours, yes 10 oz. He didn't get sick he just wanted more. Then he slept from 11 til 5:30, which he has never done. So my question is do infants sleep more when they are going through a growth spurt?? Sorry so long winded :) Thanks for any info.

My mom says it's normal, and that babies have teethed on wood for hundreds of years. She hasn't visibly worn the varnish, so I don't think she's ingesting it. But I still wonder.

Has anyone talked to their doctor or read anything about this?

My son is nine months old and ready for finger foods. What can I give him? (Ideas I already have : sliced banana, cereal, toast, crackers, cookies) Many people have already suggested chopped up fruits. What kind of fruits are good for a child his age? Also, what about vegetables, are they good for finger foods? If so, what kind of vegetables are good for a child his age?

(Note: I currently cannot ask my ped. Well, I could, but she is three hours away and probably wouldn't suggest anything over the phone. We just moved and are having diffulites with changing his dr. because of medicaid.)

My son is supposed to have treatments 4 times a day. His face is too small for the pediatric mask they gave me and I was told to "make it work" by the hospital. Anyone have any experience with this and any ideas on how to do it without it blowing in his eyes(the papers said to keep it out of the eyes)?

My daughter is 4 1/2 months. She won't stay in her activity things long at all. She has a rainforest playmat, that will last about 5 mins. Her bouncer she will sit in for about 10 mins now but can't get her to bounce in it, she just kicks her feet in it. And I've tried almost every-other-day to get her to jump in her jumperoo. I don't know what to do, she has all these activity centers but seems to hate all of them. She can stand about a minute against the couch unasissted and can hold her head up fine. I just can't seem to get her to bounce or jump in these things. Help!

I've been having post partum depression issues since having my twins 6 months ago. I've been on Wellbutrin on and off, prescribed by my ob, and I've concluded that it would be best for me to stay on it on an ongoing basis, since I am so much more relaxed on it and feel much better about myself. When I am not on it, I get all depressed, think I am ugly, think my husband doesn't love me, and tend to get overwhelmed with the babies. My ob won't prescribe me any more pills and he said I should see a psychiatrist. I do not want to have to go in and see a shrink on an ongoing basis for Wellbutrin. I don't want to sit in an office and spill my guts every few months. I just want the pills because that is what makes me feel better. Is there a way to get this without a shrink? Will my general practitioner prescribe them?

My 6 month old likes to have a paci to go to sleep, but it's becoming a real pain because she takes it out of her mouth and then cries because she can't get it back in again. it's making it real hard to get her to sleep for naps. Plus, they get lost everywhere and I'm tired of buying them. How do I do away with these things?

How old does a child have to be? To be diagonised with Asthma?
Can an infant be diagonised with asthma and 6 months old or younger. How can you tell when it is asthma. Has anyone ever had a infant with asthma? Asthma runs really strong on my husbands side. None of my children have it but my infant has been really sick lately. He has been having trouble breathing and is weezing alot so I am wondering if this could be asthma. I am taking him to the doctors this afternoon to see what is wrong. So I dont need you to tell me to take him to the doctors. I just want some opinions on the matter and if anyone knows of any babys that have asthma at 6 months old. Thanks

My son is six months old. He can hold eye contact with me but only for a few seconds. He then gets distracted by something else every time. I try to talk to him and look him in the eyes but he always looks away. Also, he can yell and make lots of noise ( I know he enjoys hearing his own voice), yet he has not yet made any sounds like ma, ba, goo, ga. Can your six month old make these sounds or do they mostly just yell and sing song? He responds to his name being called but only sometimes. Can you describe to me what your baby can do at six months. I know it is early to diagnose, but I am worried he could be autistic. Thanks

My baby is 8 months old and she eats the pureed baby food from the jars. My friend, whose husband is a pediatrician, mentioned yesterday that her husband told her that by 8 months babies should be able to eat whatever is on your plate (not peanut stuff though). I've never heard this before and my pediatrician has never told me that. I'm just curious what other mothers are doing with their babies. This is my first. I couldn't imagine giving her table food at this age. I know teeth aren't necessary to eat, but she doesn't have any teeth yet. Thanks in advance for your comments!!!
