My daughter is 4 1/2 months. She won't stay in her activity things long at all. She has a rainforest playmat, that will last about 5 mins. Her bouncer she will sit in for about 10 mins now but can't get her to bounce in it, she just kicks her feet in it. And I've tried almost every-other-day to get her to jump in her jumperoo. I don't know what to do, she has all these activity centers but seems to hate all of them. She can stand about a minute against the couch unasissted and can hold her head up fine. I just can't seem to get her to bounce or jump in these things. Help!

Some kids just don't like them. Also, she could be overstimulated. Just give her some time....she'll like them eventually, maybe!

I know how you feel I got my son a play mat when we was 3 months old and he did not like it. What I did was just worked with him on it. I would sit there with him and play with him show him the toys and gradually he would sit there for longer periods of time. Soon after he would sit there for a good 15 minutes he didn't need my assistance anymore. Now he will lay in there for about 30 minutes at a time and sometimes even fall asleep. It's just something you have to work with her on. And of course they won't start "jumping" in the jumperoo or "bounce" in the bouncer at her age. But she will find it amusing once she gets used to it.

I have twin girls and my youngest was like that. What I got that she finely liked was bright starts bounce bounce baby activity center. You could also try an exersaucer or a walker.(some people say they are not safe but if you keep an eye on her shell be fine just stay away from the folding kind and use common sense as to were to use it) At that age my youngest loved the walker.
p.s. shes terrified of The jumperoo her sister loves it though

I started putting my son in his Jumperoo at about 4 months and he didn't really jump in it either, just sort of kick his feet and moved from side to side. He could only stand to be in it for about 10 to 15 mins. He is now 5 months old and jumps in it like a champ, and he will stay in it for about 30 mins. Its new and it just takes time for her to adjust

My son is almost 7 months and loves his jumperoo and hates to be taken out of it! He can crawl too, and sit up and play with his toys, and have tummy time. But my 2 year old pretty much tired of it around 8-9 months, because he was fascinated with so much more by just being on the floor. I think it is different for each child and whenever they grow tired of it, then they will grow tired of it. 7 month old babies are generally pretty entertained by anything and love funny faces and goofiness, at least in my house. I feel that we have been crazier around my 27 week old and more out there! They are actually able to respond more to noises, I love this age, they are so loveable and smiley!

She's still a little young for the jumperoo, but the other things probably just don't appeal to her yet. She will catch on in a few months.

Jennifer, It's OK. Relax. The child is 4.5 months old. They don't have lengthy attention spans and are just trying to get their limbs to work in coordination with each other. She doesn't know how to jump or bounce yet. Don't push her. She'll come to it on her own. She's perfectly normal. BabyCenter.com has a great development tool. I'll include the link, but you can just go to the site and click on the age of your child.

It's funny you ask this.

I just tried putting my 4 1/2 month old in a JohnnyJump Up too. He just twirls around in it and doesn't jump.

Bouncer? He lasts at the most 20 minutes in that.

Playmat? Try putting her in front of a big mirror; mine hated tummy time but now he lasts a little longer than before.

Carseat? Forget it...

She may just not be into them that much yet, shes still very young. i;d give her another month or two and shes'll prolly be more into them. But remember most babies would rather play with a tuberware bowl and a wooden spoon. They will love everything except for what you spent the most money on! =)
Good Luck

She may just have a very short attention span. Keep doing what you're doing. I just started nannying for twin boys, now 6 months. A month ago when i started they wouldn't stay in their jumper or exer-saucer. Now they love them. It might have to do with muscle control. It may determine how active she can be in her play areas.
