Has anyone had or been a birth partner at a home delivery?

Im seriously considering it after being on the maternity ward and opening the bedside cabinet next to my bed only to find a used sanitary towel and dirty tissues, aswell as used bedpans in the bathroom waiting to be emptied. Im just wondering if im putting baby and myself in immediate danger of infections as soon as shes born. I know its not the nurses/midwifes fault they do a wonderful job im not blaming them. I just want the best for baby.

I'm looking for double or single motor breast pump, which ones have you've used or are using? What works best for you?

I'm a stay home mom and will be for the next 7 months at least. I'm looking for a pump and accessories that will best store breast milk just in case I can not be with my baby. I've heard of a lot of brands and none are cheap. If I was willing to spend the money, which pump would be worthwhile to get? (I plan to have a second child in two years as well). Please share your experiences, thanks!

I never really wanted to get my baby's ears pierced. Now that she is 9 months and I have had time to research it and the possibilities of infections and such things I want to wait until she is older and is able to make the decision herself...at a resonable age. If we were to get her ears pierced right now I would be the one taking care of them and I would feel so bad if they were to get infected and left a ugly scar on her ears. So how can I convince him that I feel uneasy about it....Ive tried already and he just says that everything will be okay or I dont have to go see it be done

We are going insane, please help!! Sleep is our problem. Here is the situation. Our 6 month old son has a very strange sleep pattern. Naps...We have to rock him to sleep. Then we lay him in the crib and he sleeps for 30 min or less. He will not sleep longer. He naps this way 4-5 times a day. Then at night...has to be rocked to sleep. Then he is up every 1&1/2 to 2 hours to nurse. All night. And sometimes when he wakes up to eat, he stays up for a couple of hours.

He is eating rice cereal two times a day and nursing the rest of the time. One meal of cereal is just before bed (makes no difference). He is teething, but tylenol does not seem to change his sleeping pattern.

How do we get him to sleep longer at nap time?

How do we get him to sleep through the night!?

Please note: I do not agree with the "crying it out" method so please do not forward advice regarding that.

Thanks for suggestions!!

Currently using a sippy cup (quite well) for drinking water. Has 4 bottles a day. 8 ounces for breakfast, 6 ounces for lunch, 6 ounches for dinner and the 4 ounces for bedtime bottle. Would still like to keep bedtime bottle for comfort.
