I'm at work with a RAGING headache and all I can find is ALEVE. I know it is okay to take Motrin and Tylenol while breastfeeding, but Aleve is Naproxen....

Aleve While Breastfeeding

you should consult your doctor. However I have breastfed two babies and mine told me that it would be okay to take one or two. Do not make this a habit though. And try and take some Tylenol first... Aleve should be your last resort. Make sure the pain is so unbearable that you just must have the Aleve because they will not want you to take more than 1 or 2 every couple of months! Hope you start feeling better!!

Yes, Aleve is fine to take while nursing. It's what I was given in the hospital after my first was born. It is approved by the AAP for use by nursing mothers.

You should be asking your doctor this question. Just remember what ever you consume will be taken in by your baby thru your breast milk. My wife breast feed our youngest child. We went to a Mexican restaurant and she had a spicy meal without thinking about what could happen. The next day our baby had a bad rash from burning poo. 8~) Be careful what you eat, drink or take as far as medicine goes.

Check w/ your doc to be sure. But, I do know that Aleeve was reclassified a few years ago to be safe to take when pregnant. I took it for awful migraines and my doc said it was safe.

My OB said only tylenol. And specifically not take alieve. So I would ask your doc to make sure before I took anything.
