You can buy Cot blankets and fold them around the mattress so you can also use them when the baby moves on to a cot or bigger bed.
The Mattress should be new for safety reasons, make sure the sheet is tucked in properly.

When the baby is in the crib use several layers of sheets or thin blanckets to cover him/her, this way you can change the thickness of the covers to keep the right temp.

Never use a pillow or a quilt.

Make sure the covers dont come above the babies shoulders and tuck them in securley.

Remember, feet to the foot of the crib.

Good Luck and enjoy the baby.

As long as there is a mattress in the crib (preferably new) then any sheets will do - obviously you would have to cut or fold big ones. Cot sheets would be best. Babies under a year don't need a pillow and it is not safe for them to have one. So you've put a sheet over the mattress and tucked it in firmly. Then you need a little top sheets and possibly two blankets. Make it up like a normal little bed. Babies shouldnt be too hot or too cold, so dont over heat the room or heap on blankets. Use your common sense. If baby is in a babygro, he/she should be warm enough.

Well you could search on ebay for specialist crib sheets but since it will only be used for a few months I suggest you buy some flat cot sheets and fold them in half.

Your local church has probably finished with theirs by now. Pop in and ask the vicar.
