Cold mist without a doubt. The warm mist ones tend to grow mold and can actually make your baby sicker and make you sick as well. If she is only seven weeks old though you should have her checked out by a physician. If you cannot afford it check with your local health department and ask them where you can get her some free medical care. Lots of cities have free clinics.

First you should not self-medicate your child. Take her to the Dr. as soon as you can if she gets worse then take her to the emergency room. My daughter was about your babies age when she came down with acute asthma which continued on into pneumonia. I sat by her bed for nights...they only used cold mist..they also set her up at an angle so that the phlegm would not stick in her throat. If you can keep the child on her back it will help her to breathe. By the way you need to take care of you also. You have to be level headed when it comes to your kids. They need you so try to sleep when they do...

I like the warm ones better. I had the cool ones but they left mineral like dust which I don't think is good to breathe. I guess you could put distilled water in the cool mist kind to avoid that problem. I hope your daughter is better soon.

mam,
first thing i ask is does ur baby have a cold and have u been to the doctor ? at 7 weeks old if ur child is sick its better to take them to ur family Gp and lt them check the baby over.
You baby needs medication to remove the cough and to help with the phlegm build up.

i hope she gets better soon

A doctor would be your best bet... It could be a cold or reaction to the change in temperatures, or it could be RSV which could potentially kill your baby if left untreated. Do you want her to get pneumonia? For Christ's sake take her to the doctor. If her doctor thinks she needs a humidifier, HE will tell you the best kind to buy.

my grandmother was a nurse and she always recommended cold-mist because it moisturizes the air without encouraging growth of more germs or bacteria which a warm-mist will do
