I would like to know from women who breastfed and women who didn't. Did your breastfed child have less colds or ear infections in the first year than the non-breastfed child? Or for the non-breastfed child where they just as healthy the first year as the breastfed child? I ask because I know people who breastfed and people who didn't and their kids appear to be equally healthy. But I am not with them all the time so I don't know if they are equally healthy. I know there are benefits to breastfeeding, I breastfed my daughter and she had about 2 colds (one when she was 7 mos. and the other at 1 year old) but no ear infections or other illnesses but I know kids who had several colds, ear infections and pneumonia the first year. But does that have to do with not breastfeeding/breastfeeding or environment. I hope I explained this clearly. Thanks for any insight.

I hate it when people come over to my house, want to play wil the baby, and then inform me they are sick. How stupid is that? Do they think I need a sick baby? One person came over, told me as she was leaving she had a sinus cold, and my baby and I both got it. I could not tell she had it until she told me and I was furious ... where is common sense these days? She then wanted to come back a few days later. When I told here the baby was sick she said "Oh, I don't mind baby germs..."!!!!

She is 6 months old.

Each time we go out for a stroll, she comes back with at least one mosquito bite, even though she's wearing pants, socks, shoes, long sleeves, a hat... It seems to me like mosquitos can bite through your clothes!

What do I do?

Thank you!

She started 1 month ago. One day i picked her up and she had a bloody boo boo in her foot and they said it was because she rubbed her feet too much. Now she has developed a really bad rash, which the ped said its because they dont change her frequently. When I was caring for her before I went back to work she never had a rash. Is this a sign of neglect in part of the childcare provider?

I have a 2 year old with a small cold and I have a baby due any day now. I wouldn't normaly take her to the doctors becuase it is a cold but I don't want my newborn to get sick- would you take her or let it run its course. It is just a runny nose, mostly clear but some green here and there.

I have a friend who just had a baby and the paternal grandmother told her that patting a baby to burp it makes the baby jumpy and hostile. She proceeded to say that you have to rub the baby's back to burp him so that he will be a calm babay when he grows up. I have 3 kids and have never heard of this. Is this b/s or what?

I just need help thinking outside the box. Friend has baby. The Baby is 7 months old now. Doctors think something is wrong with her because she is behind on muscle developement. She can not sit up or crawl yet. Her eyes wander away and she has problems focusing. All test so far since she was born are negative. What diesease or defects do we need to be looking at that doctor's may be missing? All suggestions will be taken seriously! thank you!

He is breasfted, but not exclusively. I supplement with Nestle Good Start soy-based formula (about 50%). No cereal. He seems to be in a good mood, has a soft tummy, no fever, no crying. I called my ped, and they told me to try a rectal thermometer. I've been trying since last night, but nothing is happening. Should I be concerned?
