It could be a combination of the soy and iron. My son was 3 weeks old and went thru the same thing and i was told to give him similac lactose free for a few days then went back to similac advance after he had a bowel movement. I would call the doctor and ask for advice also before doing anything. My son didnt need to see the doctor for the doctor to tell me what to do. Good luck. Also some babies dont have bowel movements daily so remember that.

The soy formula tends to constipate them a bit. My son could not tolerate Similac formula, so I use Enfamil Prosobee Lipil. They say there's no difference, but he definitely hates Similac.
My doctor told me that not having a poop for a couple of days is ok, as long as they don't seem miserable. If she hasn't gone by tomorrow, or seems uncomfortable, call your doctor and ask about using a baby glycerin suppository or adding a teaspoon or two of prune juice her bottles.

Try the juice that Gerber makes - I used apple juice for my son. Just use an equal part of water to feed. I would only use 1 oz - 1/2 water, 1/2 juice. Constipation is not linked to iron - it is a common misconception. Do NOT change his formula unless a doctor advises - it may cause more harm than good!

I would strongly suggest Karo Syrup. My pediatrician advised me to use a teaspoon in my daughters formula when she was constipated. She is 2yrs old now and have no medical problems. I wont harm you baby, its just a sweet syrup. I really works and I guarantee your little one will have a poopy within 30 minutes after drinking it. Be sure to get the clear Karo Syrup. You can find it in the grocery store. If you are not sure check with you doctor to see if it will harm your baby. Hope this helps.

If you just switched her formula from another or just switched from breastfeeding it may be normal. When I swtiched my son from breastmilk to formula he did the same thing. If it truly worries you an ounce of apple juice mixed with her next bottle should work. That was doctor recommeded for me, but only when they haven't pooped for a few days; otherwise you never give juice to a baby that young.

A lot of people will tell you to put karo syrup in her bottle, but don't do that unless you talk to your baby's doctor. Try using a warm dry cloth (Warmed in the microwave) and rubbing her tummy to help stimulate her bowels. If that doesn't work call her doctor.

I breastfed my baby and I was concerned because she didn't poop very often when I consulted her doctor he said that as long as she went every 3 days then it was ok. If it is longer than that then you should take her to the doctor. If she does go and it is hard and she is having difficulty you should consider changing her formula.

You shouldn't be alarmed if formula fed baby has not pooped in 5 days, so said my doctor. However, you can help her to poop by giving her a warm bath, and letting her bottom sit in warm water. Also, sometimes the act of taking her temperature rectally will help stimulate her to poop. If she seems to be wincing in pain, or running a fever, I would consult your doctor.

Add one teaspoon of Karo Syrup to her bottle and it should get things going. My doctors said that I shouldn't worry about the lack of poopies until after it's been 5 days.
Karo will loosen things up, so be careful.

Iron tends to cause that promblem in children. It is still a good idea for you to contact your childs doctor. I always got my child to poop by giving him apple or prune juice.
