Newborn & Baby - November 2006

I bought a tommee tippee easiflow one but my daughter can't seem to get the hang of it. I think it may be because she has to suck to hard and she can't be bothered because she is generally a lazy baby.

She had to have size 3 teats at about 3 weeks old which are supposed to be for 6 months plus to give you an idea! This was because it was taking her hours and hours to get any milk from the newborn size teats, she also would not breastfeed for the same reason, just too lazy.

Hi, I have a problem with trying to establish a routine for my 4 month old baby...I used Gina Fords routine with my first child and he seemed really happy, but my new baby just wont take to it, she has a rough schedule for feeding, every four hours or so, but no napping schedule at all. I would love to get her on a routine so I could get things done and spend time with my toddler. What routines do you follow?? Any suggestions appreciated...

If baby's a girl we're going with Anastasia (Anna for short) and can't think of a single middle name to go with it. Last name is Lee, which has been tricky to work with. Any suggestions are welcome!

Hi everyone, my baby girl is 7 months old and she is strictly on breastmilk. She has started on solides (baby cerals/veggies/fruits), what her peditrician has said. However she doesn't know like formula. She likes the real stuff. (breastmilk) She will not take a bottle as well. Point being is, we are in the court process of child custody & visitation. Overnight stays are not feesible with the father, due to breastfeeding. I am not going to give my daughter she doesn't want and not going to make a fast transition if she isn't ready. She'll be ready when she is ready. Generally, can the courts rule that she is with him for a certain amount of time due to breastfeeding.

***I do know a friend of mine who got her baby's father to only spend 2 hrs with his son because he was being breastfeed.***THIS IS ALL IN CALIFORNIA***

I'm posting this not to receive answers, but rather to share info with other breastfeeding mothers. It's a lot of work to nurse your child, and although I really am not a drinker I do enjoy the occasional glass of wine with dinner. Pretty much everyone came down hard on the woman who wanted to know how long to wait to nurse after having a drink (which was asked a few hrs ago). She was being a responsable mother, trying to find out exactly how long she needed to wait, and most people said: DONT DRINK. In a negative manner to boot. This is for all those people: please see the following links. The first one works to dispell the myth that a nursing mother can not have the occasional drink or that you must 'pump and dump' after drinking, the second gives you down to the minute advice on how long to wait based on your weight. Now lets go drink a toast to motherhood!!

I know she will always need to be supervised, but right now we take a bath together every day because that's what feels right (she's 3 months). I love our bathtime, but when will I be able to just let her do her thing in the tub?

She's only four days old, so I know she's going to take a while to get used to a routine. But how long does it take? I'm exhausted.

My daughter is four days old. At times, she'll eat 1/2 oz. of formula, fall asleep, then wake up thirty minutes later and want more. Other times, she'll eat 2 oz, then sleep for three hours. Is it normal that she eats so sporadically?

My cousin had a baby boy recently, and I will be seeing the new baby next week. I would like to take a nice gift, but can't figure what to buy.

1. My cousin is going to relocate to a different country shortly, and so it wouldn't make sense to buy stuff that they will find had to carry with them.
2. I would like to get something "nice"; something precious and valuable; that would be remembered even later.
3. Budget is not much of an issue.

Would really appreciate suggestions, with specific links.
