I usually breastfeed, but would like to try formula for the odd feed. I'm happy with sterilising all the 'equipment', but wondered why the water should not be reboiled. If I put freshly boiled and cooled water in a bottle (no powder) ready for a feed, how long is it ok to use?

My "wife's" family has been feeding my baby "junk" food like donuts, french fries, ice cream, limes with salt, whipped cream, chocolate, all sorts of candy, etc, etc.since she was an infant(she is now 8 months. When I tell them and her to knock it off they say it's "no big deal". When I ask them why do they continue to do it, they say "I want to see what she does" or "I want to see her be happy." Now these are all adults I'm refering to and not little kids. My "wife" when I confront her about it every time she say the same things: "I didn't see it"(even though it's occuring right in front of her fat face) or "It's no big deal". Your thoughts please, because I at the point of performing violence upon them.

I have 6mth old boy who recently started crying everytime we put him on his car seat. Now, I think it's because he is uncomfortable in the car seat. He has an infant car seat that I have put the strats as far as they go and it's still a tight fit when I put him in it. I purchase another car seat but now for bigger size that is both rear-forward facing and it also reclynes. I am changing it today so wish me luck that my problem will be solve. Really, I am just looking to see if anyone had experience a familiar problem or do you think it's something else?

I was watching the movie "Arthur" last night and in the movie he mentions naming a child Vladimir--even if it was a girl. What do you think of that name for a boy or a girl? I was thinking it would be kind of cute on a girl. Her nickname could be Miri (Meer-ee) or Ladi (Lad-ee). What do you think? By the way, "Arthur" is probably my favorite movie of all time..if it wasn't then I wouldn't ever consider it. What do you think?

I'm 34 weeks preggo with my second baby it's a girl this time and we don't have anything left from having our son b/c we weren't planning on having any more children soon. I am trying to find out what are some products or even brand names that people just can't live without. My Mother in Law bought us the cradle swing and bassinet already. But besides that I haven't gotten any big items. So what products could you guys not live without? Heck and what products would you suggest for me to stay away from.
Thanks...

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a good baby bathtub? I was going to get the spa tub from babies r us but I started to read the comments and out of 20 of them there were only 3 good comments. My house doesn't have bathtubs we only have 2 showers so I need one that the baby can sit into. But I really didn't want to buy her one that is hard as a rock either. Any suggestions please help!!!

My son is 9 1/2 months old and I am planning on weaning him from nursing in a few months. Luckly he takes the bottle really well when being watched by others. So I'm not really concerned with him for this proccess other than him being mad at me when he asks for the boob. My mother said the the weaning proccess was very hard and painful for her! Although that was 20+ years ago. Is there anything the doctor can give you to help out with pain and discomfort? And what is the best way to go about weaning him? Cold turkey? Substitute a bottle for the boob one feeding at a time? And how long will it all take?

I belong to freecycle in my town. If you don;t know what that is its a place that you can give your unwanted stuff away for free. Anyways someone is offering bottles and nipples on freecycle, I personally think that is gross, that you should buy ones that ONLY your baby will use, am I being nit picky or do you guys agree?

We just had a new baby girl, which we both love dearly. She is a happy healthy baby too. I just started back to work and I am very tired now. But her Dad doesnt seem to help me out too much. I work, make meals, get myself ready and of course take care of our daughter. I do the night feedings, changing diapers, bath time, put her sleep, and he plays with her. Why do I get stuck with all the hard stuff....I thought it was supposed to be split up. Plus I want her to grow a stronger bond with her father because to this day I still do not have one with mine....
How do I say in the nicest way possible .... I NEED HELP! to my fiance....

My 4 month old daughter had the perfect sleep schedule. She'd go to sleep around 10ish and wouldn't wake up for a bottle until around 9am. Once she fell asleep, there was nothing that would wake her up..But the past week, she's back to waking up every 3 hours again. I've been giving her a little cereal at night to fill up up a litle more and that hasn't been helping. Any suggestions on how to help her sleep better?

I do this everyday to my baby daughter at night to get her drink her milk. She only want to drink her milk in the morning and at night, besides that, she only wants water. So, because milk is very important, I really need to wake her at night, at 11pm. She sleeps regularly at 9.30pm. After the milk drink, she goes back to sleep.

She cries everytime I wake her and it breaks my heart. And I just heard that we shouldn't wake a baby out of her sleep because when a baby is sleeping, her brain is developing.

But I really have to get her to drink her milk. So, is it OK to wake her up?
