After you have a baby, your metabolism and hormones go completely wacky. You have to retrain your metabolism. I know it's hard with a new baby to eat regular meals, but it's a must if you want to lose weight!
Eat Every 3 hours- small meals low in refined carbs. Make sure you eat breakfast. When the baby goes down for a nap, cut up raw veggies and fruit and package them in serving sizes in ziploc baggies, so if you get the urge to snack, a healthy snack will be ready for you.
And of course, excercise is important- try to do at least 20 mins a day. It kick-starts your metabolism, especially if done early in the day.
Good luck!

I'm in the same boat! I have a 10 month old son and I gained about 50 pounds during pregnancy. I've lost some of it but I'm still about 20 pounds overweight. I recently started the "special K challenge" where you eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast, one for lunch, some healthy snacks in between and then dinner. It seems to have been working since my clothes are looser. I also wanted to say since someone mentioned thyroid pills, I have hypothyroidism and hashimoto's disease and you can ask any doctor and they will tell you that it is very dangerous to take thyroid pills if you do not have a thyroid condition. Yes, they can make you lose weight, but you risk serious heart damage and damaging your thyroid for real! That was very irresponsible advice for a science teacher to be giving out!! Please don't try it! Good luck!

Pretty much like everyone else hear is saying eat less and work out my friend is doing the Weight Watchers Diet. Where you count points. She doesn't have to eat there food but she does buy a little of it. When you start going to the meetings you pay $20 dollars for 2 books and they tell you how many points are in pretty much everything you eat. One book is for when you go out to eat and the other is for when you cook at home she has been doing it for a month now and has lost 13 lbs. I think. Plus she walks @ least 3 times a week. Good luck with my son I only gain only 24 lbs. and lost all but 8 immediatly after I gave birth but I went back up to 120 in like a month b/c he was preemie and I couldn't go any where. I'm almost 34 wks. preggo and have gaind 23 lbs. so far but I started out at 115lb. this time instead of 100lbs. so I'm hoping to lose the weight myself.

There's no magic solution. I gained a lot of weight with my first pregnancy and got pregnant again before I lost all the weight. So far I've lost the weight from both pregnancies but I would like to lose a lot more weight. It's a struggle but it's coming off slowly with exercises and watching what I eat. Good luck.

I would find other new mothers like yourself and get together to go for long, vigorous walks. I used to do this before I went back to work and there were always at least 3-5 other moms who wanted to get back in shape. Push the stroller up hills, walk to the store, walk everywhere. Bring water and a hat!

There are no shortcuts, sorry. As they say, eat less, exercise more. I lost weight by going to a dietician on a weekly basis.Find an exercise that's fun, whether it's going for a walk with your daughter, dancing, or karate! Good luck

Are you nursing? That can help with burning extra calories, although the increased appetite can nullify that....
Getting out and getting active with your baby is great. Walking (park, mall anywhere) with a stroller burns more calories than walking withoug one..
Pilates helps get that belly down.
It all comes down to the same old science, calories in has to be less than burned. You'll get there. Good luck!

I finally joined Weight Watchers, and let me tell you IT WORKS!!! I have lost 32 pounds so far, and still going - in fact I'm below my pre-pregnancy weight. Try it, it really is the only thing I've ever tried that actually works!!!
