my friends baby is 6 weeks old and when he cries he always kicks his feet not in the air, and his hands move around like he's punching something. why do babies do that?

Our son is a lovely 4 month old. An "easy" baby. The thing is my husband stresses over every little thing with the baby, and this makes him want to avoid the baby. He gets into the what-if mindset: what if the baby wakes up in the middle of the night and wont go back to sleep? (My son sleeps 11 hrs a night 99% of the time!) What if he cries when I'm watching him and doesn't stop. etc. The stress keeps dh from sleeping at night & b/c of the stress he finds it a chore to spend time with the baby. And what I don't get is when dh is with the baby, he seems to have a good time.

I've tried to be understanding b/c it is a big adjustment. But it's been 4 months now. And I'm tired of the fights about whose responsibility things are. (It's not as if the baby wasn't wanted. We've been married for 7 years, and we ttc for over 3 yrs.)

I love our son, and I'm turned off by dh's reaction. Help?

First-time mom here :-)...My daughter will be four months old in a week or so, and she still doesn't really bat her hands at toys that are suspended over her. We give her playtime on her little play gym mat, and I've hung a small shaker toy over her carseat (don't worry; not long enough to be dangerous!), but all she does is stare at them. Her 4-month checkup is about a week away, so I'll ask her doctor about it then, but in the meantime I thought I might gather some info from other parents out there regarding this. Should I be at all worried, or is this just another example of how every baby develops at his/her own rate? Thanks!

What's a good baby shower gift for a woman who already has a child of the same sex that is not too much older and has undoubtedly saved all the stuff? I'm sure this baby shower is more of just a fun celebration for friends and she's not registered anywhere, so what would be something fun and not too over the top?

We like the name Kayley. I would like the middle name to be some type of flower. Our 3 year olds name is Katelin Rose. We would like to keep with a flower middle name. Every year for Katelin's Birthday we give her a rose for each year she has been with us. It is just a special way for us to celebrate her birthday, and we would like to do this with each of our children. No worries. We will not name any of our sons flowers. lol

I have a one month old son and he's being formula feed with the Similac Advance powder formula (sometimes I used the premixed stuff in the big bottle because it came with the big can of powder). My mother has bought me a few big cans of the powder formula but I know she won't be doing this for me forever. She just wanted to help out and buy me a few cans. What I was wondering is, would it be okay to switch him to a store brand formula, like Wal-Marts Parent's Choice, since it would be saving me about 10 dollars a canister? Is there a certain age that I would need to do the switch for him or can it be done any time? I know I would have to test out the formula first on him to see if he takes to it well but I just didn't know if I waited too long and he gets used to the Similac, would he not like anything else or would he be okay with trying something different. I've heard that the Similac brand and the Parent's Choice brand are somewhat similar. What does everyone think?

If you were pregnant and having the baby meant you could possibly die--what would you do? Would you abort the baby and go on with your life, or you would you put the "I love you so much I'd die for you" thing into effect and let the baby live?

2006-09-26 11:11:06 · 20 answers · asked by Anonymous

Why is everyone always arguing over abortion? It doesn't matter if you're pro-life or pro-choice, all that matters is that a baby is aborted every 24 seconds. Seriously, right now an innocent baby is living and growing in it's mother's womb and the mother is in the doctor's office and about to have her child killed and thrown in the garbage. Why are we arguing instead of stopping these things?

They state they have the same nutritional info, but the ready to feed seems like such a different consistency. It seems thicker and richer. Is it any different?

We live with my mother-in-law, and she has a nasty a$$ dog who pi$$es and $hits everywhere he wants.... 2 days ago he pi$$ed on my 5 month-old's "Bebe Pod" ( a little baby chair that helps them learn how to sit) and I didn't realize until AFTER she sat on it!!! eww.... I was soooooo mad! I was freaking out! I mean, what if she touched the urine and then put her hand in her mouth???? What are the chances of her getting some kind of disease? I asked my mother-in-law if she thought the baby could get sick and she said "oh, the baby will be ok", you know, she didn't seem very worried, but I AM... dogs are nasty! Do you think I'm overreacting?

My daughter was born deaf and had the Cochlear Implant after she turned 1. She has been hearing for about 4 months. So technically she is like a baby in the Hearing stage of her life. For the past couple of weeks she has been throwing tantrums and banging her head on the floor and throwing things. She hit her Speech therapist in the face yesterday. I was so embarrased!
I understand she is frustrated because she can't communicate as well as she wants. She is really smart. She can sign probably 30 signs. I can tell her No, but what is that going to do! She just gets more angry! What am I going to do?!!
