Newborn infants cannot control their muscles yet. It's really kind of cute. My babies did that too. It's a natural way of communication. If they are scared, need food, or are cold, it is a natural way for them to let somebody know. He's perfectly normal. Congratulations.

They have immature neurological systems. They can't yet control all their reactions to stimuli. Just like their digestive systems still take a while to develop (why you shouldn't give a baby strawberries, honey or peanut butter...)

well, i'd go with the first answer but in Islam, i've read that its because Satan starts beating them so they start crying and trying to make him go away, I know thats a very different concept, but it is intersting tothink about if you are monotheistic.
