First of all , your child has to be ready to go. Here are signs they are ready to start.
Diapers are still dry after naps
Child has interest in toilet, such as watching you go to the bathroom or trying to go themselves.
Don't want diapers on.
Now if your child is showing some of these signs. Get a potty chair not the kind that fit in the toilet ring to hard for kids to get on and off. Then if there is something that your child really loves such as candy, or coloring or any number of things. Every time they go pee in the toilet offer a reward. My daughter loved m&m's . Then you need to pump them full of water and some juice. Kids should only drink between 4 to 8 oz of jucie a day.
Then every 15 minutes or so take them in. During this time put them in big kid undies let them pick them out some have characters and what not on them. If they have an accident you can simply throw them in some dawn and hot water rinse and dry. If they do have an accident do not scold them . In some children this can cause them to hold it and cause bladder problems. Just remember your child has to be ready no matter what anyone here tells you. Also do not try to potty train your child in one day or a week .It can take months untill they are completely diaper free. Good luck and i hope that helps. This is from personall knowledge in daycare that i run and also from what to expect the first year. Some of it is in the book

Wait until your child is ready. Trust me, the child won't be in diapers until he's 5. Boys sometimes take longer than girls to potty train, but use your common sense. You can always try but if he/she seems uninterested, don't push. My daughter was 2 months shy of 3 when she started on the potty regularly and I knew she was ready. It was 4th of July weekend and she was swimming and kept coming and telling me she had to go. I put her in "big girl underpants" the next day and she had only 2 accidents after that and both times she was sick. She is 8 now. If you push them when they aren't ready, they will have setbacks and accidents. Just wait. Don;t worry about keeping up with your best friends kid--each kid is different. Just because some else's kid was potty trained at 2, doesn't make him/her a genious. It just means they potty trained early. Don't compare your child to others, it will drive you crazy. They learn what they learn when they learn it.

first off don't rush into it. I work at a day care and this is probably the worst thing to do.. if they are not ready to go.. do not push... we have kids at they day care who are still 3 that are now just learning. Make it fun for them.. when they use the potty give them a reward. Make it a game. do anything that you can to make it seem like its fun for them. Give them a sticker or something that makes them see wow i used the potty and i get a reward eventually they will learn that its something that has to be done.. another thing is when they are starting to learn get a seat for them that just gets placed over the seat. that way there is less of a mess and its a lot easier. Good luck with the training!

as soon as you can get your little one to try the potty, take away diapers. However, don't put underwear on them right away. To them, the underwear feels like a diaper, so they will just pee their pants. Let them go with just pants and no underwear for a couple of days. It works wonders for avoiding accidents, and getting them used to the potty. But trust me, you can't make them go on the potty until they are ready. It will always happen when they are ready, and it can happen overnight.

Elimination Communication. Well, it's not potty training in the traditional sense.

Put your child on the potty every 20-30 mins. for about 5 mins. Bribes worked for my 4 year old. Try letting he/she go naked at home, if they have no diaper or underwear to go in they should ask to go potty.

TERRY, IT DEPENDS ON HOW OLD THE BABY IS. IS HE OR SHE READY. ARE THEY TELLING YOU OR GIVING YOU SIGNS THAT THEY ARE READY. BOYS ARE ALOT SLOWER . IF IT IS A BOY LET HIM SIT DOWN ON THE BOWL AND TELL HIM A STORY JUST KEEP PUTTING HIM ON THE BOWL EVERY 15-20 MINUTES EVEN IF HE OR SHE DON'T HAVE TO GO. MAKE IT FUN DON'T STRESS OUT OVER IT HE OR SHE WILL LEARN ITS NOT EASY GOOD LUCK DON'T STRESS IF HE OR SHE IS READY THEY WILL DO IT
