I have a very good friend who is pregnant and I've been thinking about something to get her for her baby shower that is personal and unique. I decided that I wanted to make her a little journal filled with advice and suggestions from current mothers. (She has never really been around babies so this is going to be a whole new world to her).

Please answer:

What was the most unexpected thing you found about having children/becoming a mother?

What is the best advice that you received and/or would give a new mother?

Also, can you please list how old your kids currently are (I don't care if they're babies or full-grown, hopefully this is something that she'll be able to refer to in the future as well).

My 11 month old daughter is eating well. The only finger foods I have given her are veggie puffs, arrowroot crackers, and rice rusks, she is getting tired of these and needs more of a variety. I would like to give her cut up fruits and veggies but I'm scared she'll choke. Think she's ready? any advice?

Any suggestions? I just got her on a good sleep schedule. Sleep, eat, play, eat, play, sleep. I have to feed her twice between naps because she can only fit about 3 oz in her little belly. I try to have her eat more, but she ends up spitting up it. What can I do to keep from feeding her what seems to be all the time?

I don't remember being a baby. I also don't remember what I did the other night. Is this just a coincidence. Either I was always drunk as a baby, or it could be because when I drink I turn into a baby. I'm confused.

I breastfeed and all of a sudden my nipple seems to be clogged, I noticed this when I was pumping and hardly anything was coming out , but my boob was very full. It hurts so bad, I looked at my nipple and noticed a white little dot on it I tried to rub it away but realized that is where the clog is, I can't take it out and it hurts so much when my baby nurses... help.

The kind of book that progresses with the symptoms - like the baby is sneezing . . it could be this, or this or this and directs you to the page with another possible symptom and so on until you can pin point what may be the problem.

Half of the time, he won't fall to sleep on his own during day time naps. He will cry for an hour straight if we let him. He sleeps 10 hours during the night straight thru. At night, he usually falls to sleep on his own when we follow a similar routine (read him a book, change him, breast feed him, say good night). Sometimes he falls asleep breastfeeding. When he finally takes a day time nap he takes one for around 2-3 hours or two at 1.5-2 hours a piece, but there is not really any pattern. If he refuses to sleep during the day, he'll cry off and on (we let him go 15 minutes) until the next eating time. Then, if my wife breastfeeds him, he's so tired he sleeps.Lately he's been getting up around 6:00 to 6:30 am for the last few weeks which he didn't used to do (he usually got up around 7:30). My wife feeds him (breast feed) and then lays him down and he usually goes back to sleep for a couple hours. He is teething, has one and one is coming in. He eats well. Any suggestions or comments

Trust me, I'M NOT COMPLAINING, just wondering if I should be concerned about how long she is sleeping. She is 5 months old. I put her to bed at 10 pm and she sleeps until 10:30 am. Everyone else I know says their babies wake up around 7 am.

She is always in a good mood during the day and very rarely fusses. She doesn't nap too much during the day, maybe twice for 20-30 minutes.

Is it okay to let her sleep this long over-night or should I be waking her up earlier?

I posted this to inform most parents who are not even aware of it and that it may be possible their child is exposed.

No, I do not believe it's incureable or genetics. (The only thing I believe is genetics is the level of sensitivity to vaccines).

He used to articulate few words like mama , dada and ata but stopped 3 months ago, a day after he recieved his 6 months immunizations. Might be just a coincidence, but since that day his only way of comunicating is screaming or crying.
We talk to him, we are reading, listening and singing to him every day so we try to engage him as much as we can. I talked to the pediatrician , but she does not seem concerned at all because our son reached all his other developmental milestones in time.
Any idea what is wrong with our son and what can we do to help him with the speech development?

My almost 2 year old thinks it's hilarious to spill milk and other food items on himself and others. He doesn't want a sippy cup anymore and wants to use a regular cup. I try not to be alarmed when he does this but he laughs himself silly anyways. Help!
