Sounds like pink-eye. Change his sheets on his bed and take him to the Ped. This needs to be taken care of.
Remember to wash your hands constantly and do not put your hand to your eyes unless you have washed. You can catch it from him.

How old is your baby? If he's newborn, it could be a clogged tear duct. There's a certain way you need to massage/rub under the corner of his eye while you feed him. This requires a trip to the doctor so your doctor can show you. In most cases, clogged tear ducts resolve themselves in a matter of months. In some cases, surgery is required.
If your baby is older and this is the first you've ever seen this happen, it could be an eye infection such as pinkeye. Is the white of your baby's eye reddish-pink?
Do not put ANYTHING in your baby's eye. The only thing you should do until you take him to the doctor is get a clean, soft wash cloth, wring it out in very warm water, and wash the crust away from his eye, gently.

Either pink eye, or possibly a clogged tear duct (which my daughter had when she was little). Put warm cloths on it to get it clean- DONT RUB- and make an appointment with his pediatrician. If you can, try to keep him from touching his eyes. Put mitts or socks on his hands, that way if it is pink eye maybe you can prevent it from spreading to the other eye.
And why the heck are you waiting 3 days before you call the doc??

I don't think you need to take him yet- he has a clogged tear duct. You can help it go away by washing it with clear water and massaging right in the corner of his eye, slightly below. Just rub gently with your pinky in tiny circles. If it starts to get really red and irritated you should take him to the pediatrician.
Don't freak out over all these other responses either- I know for a fact it is not and eye infection or pinkeye. It should go away on its own. Don't worry.

My daughter had that. I just called the doctor and explained the situation in detail. I just cleaned her eyes with a clean damp cloth every morning and throughout the day. Don't clean the other eye with the same cloth so it doesn't spread. My daughter had a problem with her tear ducts so I massaged under her eye, kept it clean, prayed and it went away. I had the same thing as a baby and I'm fine now.

it sounds like it could be pink eye or an infection - when he wakes up with his eye crusty - use a warm wash cloth, that will help to loosen and wipe off the crusty stuff - you should take him to a doctor, they can give you an eye ointment to get rid of the infection

It is probably a clogged tear duct! You should definitely go see the doctor if its gooping up. My daughter had this and it can last for a while but usually goes away on its own. The doctor can give you some eyedrops to help with the goopiness but it will probably still water.

It may just be a simple eye infection. If so just put a cold compress on it and keep it clean. If your baby is around other children then take him to the doctor because it may be pink eye. Also, if you have pets your son may be allergic to them. Hope this helps!
