Wow that is crazy . . I can tell by the way you write that you haves a great education. You might want to think about taking him to the doctor . . . if not put a pillow over his head & do the right thing.

My daugther had yellow, crusty stuff on her eyes after she woke up at about the same age.
It was simply a clogged tear duct. After a visit to the Dr's he gave us an eye drop solution (by prescription) and suggested that I very gently massage the inner corner of her eye. I also applied a warm towel over the area for a few moments. Above all else make sure everything is kept clean!! It went away as fast as it came. Also, every other mom I have talked to has had this problem too.
Good luck,
L

Having yellow stuff in a childs eye can mean many things. However, what your doctor should have done is offer benadryl to see if your child has alergies. If the use of benadryl (orally) relieves the yellow discharge in the eyes, than you need to take the child to an allergist to find out what the alergies are.

Call your doctor and tell him or the nurse that there is always yellow stuff in his eyes. They may want you to bring you baby in or they may just order something over the phone for you to use.

It could just be the crust from him crying...but I wouldn't think it would be yellow.

Always call the doctor if you have any questions. Go with your gut feelings! That's what the doc is there for!

Good luck!

Hold on, is it yellow crusty stuff or is the white of his eye yellow?

If it's just the white of his eye then he has Jaundice. Put him in front of a window that has direct sunlight coming in for about 15 minutes a day. This should help. It did for my baby.

he obviously has an eye infection...I recommend you taking him to another doctor. You can also go to you local pharmacy and see if there is any over the counter eye drops for babies. Also, make sure to clean out the yellow discharge from his eyes and wash his face to make sure he doesnt re infect himself.

it could be pink eye or another eye infection. for that you'd need a perscription. it could be allergies too. if you don't like the answers your doctor is giving you, go to another doctor. a mother always knows when something is wrong with her child. don't always assume the doctor is right. you have the right to question him and get another opinion.
