Adoption

There are obviously more people who want babies than there are babies to go around.
Prospective and adoptive parents seem to be willing to go through so much, and spend so much money to raise a child that is NOT biologically related to them--why?
Why can't people just go on as nature intended, childless?
I truly don't understand.

I don't think bitter was the right word, but you get what I mean. I've just been reading a lot of posts from some adoptees on here and they say some pretty far out (to me) things about adoption. Is this an expectation now that adoptees should feel like something is missing in their lives, or be angry?
I'm just asking because I'm an adoptee, and to me it's just the way things are. I've never even thought of myself as an 'adoptee' really, it's just who I am.
Just wondering, thanks all!

Why do so many people seem to think they have an obligation to tell adoptees how they should feel about their adoption?

That we should be grateful, happy, and love our adoptive parents?

How do I go about finding a child I was made to give up for adoption 23 years ago?

I have no details apart from I gave birth and signed adoption papers, as I was brought up as a strict catholic and my baby was born when I was just 16 everything was organised by the church.

I really don't know a lot about the laws regarding adoption. I have looked up some stuff here and there and have tried some things but haven't gotten too far. My adoption was arranged before I was born. My mother was only 16 and her parents wouldn't let her keep me. I was born in Illinois in 1985, so I am 22 now. I also found out I have a half sister who was born in 1983. My adoption was a private adoption which is no longer legal. The lawyer who handeled the case was an older lady and she is now deceased. I tried to get in contact with her family to get ahold of any paperwork but I couldn't reach anyone. I have talked to the hospital I was born at and they have not helped me at all. My mother did sign papers that said once I turn 18 I could contact her. Apparently there is a paper with her name address and some other info that I can get, but I don't know how. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Was it good or bad? I've heard that many of the babies have attachment disorders when they get older. I am interested in adoption and just started looking into this so any helpful hints and advise would be welcome.

At what age do you believe adoptees should have access to their own birth records?

Many adoptees in 44 USA states (myself included) have explained at length how it is a violation of their rights that adult adoptees are still being denied all of their original birth certificates and records containing their original identities.

How do adoptive parents and for-profit adoption agencies continue to justify this practice today?

Did you ever have interest in meeting your biological parents? If so, have you met them?

I'm just curious because my boyfriend doesn't know his birth father, his mom got pregnant when she was very young. She then got married a couple years later and my boyfriend was adopted by the man she married. He is completly content not knowing his birth father, but I always wonder why he doesn't want to know. I would never push him or anything, I just wonder why he wouldn't want to at least meet him and let him know he technically has a granddaughter. We know his birth fathers name and that he still lives locally, but he just doesn't care to meet him. Like I said, I respect his decision but just would like some insight on why people feel that way.

Im 21 weeks pregnant with my 5th. Ive always wanted to have a baby for some special family who cant. I have no regrets in life and love ALL my babies very much. My babies have all they need maybe not all they want but definaitlly all they need. If i go through this I would want this baby to have all he/she wants and needs. Heres the thing we have some friends that medically cant have kids. So my husband and I considered them to be our childs parents. One small thing though, I cant stand her husband. He is late 30's unemployed again, controlling towards her, and has a very short fuse. He will get mad at the smallest things and walk out of a job and has no problems letting her support him while he sits at home on his butt watching TV. He has had 8 jobs since 2007 all of which he walked out on. If I do chose to give my baby for adoption I want him/her to have a better life then we can provide. So any suggestions on how I can tell her No because I dont like her husband?? Thank you every1

Myself and my husband want to adopt baby without revealing to anyone (even to our parents). We are from India. Our problem in India is, it is a place of emotional bonds and ties. We do not want our adopted child to be afftected in anyway - means isolated, treated indifferently by relatives and society.

So we have a idea to convey our relatives that i am pregnant and will adopt a child and say it is our's. Just wanted to know if it is practically possible to get a baby at the exact time (delivery date etc) in india? Once we get through the period of pregnancy we will manage to keep the screcy thro' our life.

We are very anxious and in need of child. Please.advise if this is advisable to go by this way..kindly advise..Share your opinion on this

its true, my birthmother called me tonight (we have known each other for about 8 years now) she says "someone wants to say hi to you", it was my birthfather!! talk about a shock!
i am a little concerned though, when i found my b/mother i was on cloud nine, literally exhuberant, but i am leary of him.
i wanted to find him and together we were searching, so its not hostility, but could it be something else? or am i putting too much emphasis on this and i am still in shock?
anyone have any words of encouragement to help me along until i meet him (in about 2 weeks)?
thanks all, i appreciate your help

my cousin is pregnant and considering adoption for her baby. we're pretty close and we're worried about it.

see, she already loves the unborn baby. but without going through the pregnancy and bonding to the baby, is it the same? do adoptive parents have unconditional love for their child, or is it like raising someone else's kid: you like them, but don't love them. if you have one biological child and one adopted one, do you love them the same way, unconditionally, or do you love the biological one more? be honest please. this is online and anonymous.

and to birthmothers: do you regret placing your child for adoption? do you think that you could give your child a better home then their adoptive parents do? if you had to do it over again, would you change any of your decisions regarding your pregnancy?
