I am 36, live in an apartment, have a good job and am single. I have no other children. I know it is now harder to adopt a chinese baby as a single person. How hard it is in the states? I am not catholic and heard about Catholic Charities and wondered if they allow a non-catholic to adopt.

I would take an older child and know that might make this easier.

Okay, so I have an adopted sister from China. Why are these people so rude??? They ask things like did you adopt her? How much did she cost? She's 6 so she understands these things. Why are these ADULTs so rude?

We named him Johnathan Marcus
6 lbs 9 oz
The mother didn't even want to touch him when he was born.
So I plan on adopting him!

Thanks for the nice answers I got though in previous questions

I am a birthmom and I think adoption is wonderful IF done for the RIGHT reasons. But you hear so many people come through Answers and ridicule young women who are thinking about placing their unborn child ("You make it, you keep it." and "If you don't want the responsibility, get an abortion"). While I know there are agencies and lawyers who are unethical and co-erce expectant moms, fail to properly inform the expectant father, and lie to prospective adoptive parents, what of those who do everything right? What about those of us who KNEW we were in no way capable of caring for a child, no matter how much we loved them? What about those couples who could not have babies of their own and are overjoyed when the expectant mother picks them? No money is exchanged. Just lots of tears and hugs and happiness. My little girl is three months old. I just recently got a pic. I have never seen such a happy and healthy little girl. They love her as much as I love her.

I browsed the adoption site and noticed many groups of 5-6 siblings waiting to be adopted. Do the parents die or suddenly decide they don't like their 6 kids, or does the state take them away? I'm just interested.

I am fighting to adopt my 3 year old niece because she is not in a safe inviroment. She only sees her mother a few times a year and when she does her mom brings a guy over and he verbally and/or phiscally abuses my niece.

My sister is going to jail because she didn't report the abuse and sometimes would abuse her daughter too. I am winning so far with the help of my fiance and his brother that's a lawyer, but I was wondering, if I win permanet custody of my niece, how should I treat her?

I know I should be loving and kind and since I'm adopting her I'll be sort-of her mother, but if she brings up her mom should I talk about it or shove it aside and cange the subject?

Does anyone know how I can find my brother, I know he is in Australia but I haven't heard from him for 10 years when I first met him when he was 18 and he met my mum for the first time (he was adopted into another family). I feel the loss of the brother I didn't have and really want to see how he is. Any ideas anyone on how to track him down?

Seems like whenever an adoptee says that they feel like they were bought and sold they are told otherwise. Besides the fact that adoption is a multi-billion dollar BUSINESS - how is it I'm not supposed to feel like a commodity when I come on Yahoo (and other sites) and see "what is the easiest country to adopt from," "what's the quickest way to adopt," "how does one unadopt," "where can I find a birthmom," "I want a healthy boy," "I'd like to adopt a girl," "I want an infant"? How are we supposed to feel like adoption was in our best interest when clearly it is about the interest of the adoptive parents?

My father was adopted and refuses to get his medical records and birth records even though my sister and I have begged him to. It's important to us for our own medical reasons and if we have children. He will not get them for us. Is there anyway I can get his records without involving him, as there is no way he'd help?

And how long does it take? Ive heard that it takes a shorter amount of time than internationally... My husband works for a company that gives up to 20,000 dollars toward adoption expenses.

Just because these people are obviously happy with their own good experiences doesn't make them qualified to judge others situations.
Also, I don't think anybody, adoptee or otherwise, is ever qualified to say that adoptive families are always best when possible.
I think a person being willing to keep their child makes a more suitable choice for a parent than a person willing to adopt
BTW, I'm an adoptee.

I'm 24 and just bought my own house. I live there with my boyfriend but I just want her to be able to come and live with us instead of a adoption home. Can I just have gardian rights instead of adoption? What is the process and what do I need to do?
