First off, do not misinterpret my meaning before you read the entire narrative.

In light of the recent loss of the child in Portugal belonging to the English parents, made me think of children that were murdered by their parents. I am in no way implicating the parents in this case but brings me to this question.

I know that one can put a child up for adoption at the time of birth, but can one put a child up for adoption when the child is 4 years old? Certainly children can be removed by Children and Family Services for abuse, but what if a parent just doesn't want a child of 4 years old? Can they give the child over to an agency for adoption without being charged with abuse or any other thing that would make the parent subject to criminal charges?

I bring up this subject because we hear about a parent being found guilty of murder of their children. Could they just give up that child and avoid such a unspeakable crime? Is there a way out for a parent that just doesn't want a child?

Someone sugessted that I do that but is it really nessary she has lived in our home and she does not get into cleaning supplies or medications. We do not have to lock then up but should I do so for the home study?

do you have to have an attorney for a step parent adoption? my sons bio father is signing over his rights, and has paid only half of the money to the lawyer, in turn the lawyer said he isnt going any further with this adoption until it is paid in full. My question is, since everything minus going to court has been done, do we have to have a lawyer? We are in KY, i dont know any of the laws here.. We started this process in March of this year... It is taking a very long time!! We just want to be a happy family!!!!!

We live in Texas. We are sending papers asking for our baby's birth father to terminate his rights. From what we know, he is jobless, pretty much homeless (lives with a bunch of family members), and has an old drug conviction. We feel pretty certain he will terminate his rights, but there is that fear he won't. What is the process if he doesn't sign the papers? How much legal standing does he have? We have had our baby for 5 months and we are scheduled to formally adopt him pretty soon. We really hope everything goes smoothly.

My husband and I are thinking of trying to adopt an older child, preteen age from DCF out state agency but we have children of our own that are 4 and 2. Does any one know if this might be a problem with DCF? There are so many older children that need a good home and we would love to help them so hopefully this will not be an issue?

First off-- I don't need any answers like "you should have use protection" or "what about stds"--- already thought about that a thousand times. And I can't change the past so lets move on and try to figure out what to do!!

I found out recently that I'm pregnant. The "father" was just a one night stand, after a night of getting completely drunk. I'm try to deiced what would be best for the baby. 1) keep it and give a loving home or 2) give it to a family (place it for adoption) with two parents that can love it. I recently finished with college, so financial I would be able to afford caring for it. If I do give it away I want it to be a Christian family with good moral values-- does anyone know of an agency that does that?

I know of many families who have adopted children from China and Korea but of nobody who has adopted from Japan, Nepal, India. I'm curious as to what regulations these countries have that are not conducive to foreign adoption?

What happens? Does he have to go through some sort of legal procedure before he can take the baby or can he just take the baby home from the hospital.

Also, in this situation, mom would not be able to get out of paying child support, would she?

I have a friend who is pregnant and she is desperately looking for somebody to adopt her baby. I would love to adopt it from her but I dont know how much it costs or how to go about it. I know adoption costs about 10,000 to 30,000 with an adoption agency but I dont need one right? Is it still thousands of dollars to adopt a baby even without one? Also how do you go about the adoption process. I know somebody out there must know about this. Grandparents who have adopted their children's baby and such. Please help.

I work with a great group of people, but I am unsure as to how they will react when they find out. I don't want to have the baby, then come back having to explain. I'd rather do it before I give birth. I am 33 weeks along right now. How should I approach this?

Ok, this may be lengthy, but pls bare with me. My husband and I are looking to adopt but we dont want an infant, we actually prefer an older child. W already have our own, but I am adopted too, just not in the common sense. (my adoption was complicated) Anyway, we would like to adopt an older child. Does that make a difference. I am afraid to do foster care because I get attached easily. What if "mommy" comes back? That scares me!! I would like a child around 4 and up. give or take. There re so many kids out there without someone to love them. My husband and I want to love them. I am in school to be a paralegal and possibly law school when I graduate. What do they look at when looking to adopt? We have no criminal records, we are prior military cops and no drug or alcohol problems, but we have bad credit and we rent. Is that bad? I just dont want to be rejected. I think that would hurt, someone telling me I am not good enough to love a child. What should I do? Help! Advice needed!

Please read below before answering so you will know the reason in behind this being asked:

My co-worker who is in college (23 yrs) right now said that she wants two children of her own and then adopt another so she can give a child a chance and better life that doesn't have one. This has always been something that she wanted to do. I guess because she has a big heart. Her fiancee (27 yrs) who is also in college but almost done is set dead against it. She didn't want to have children or adopt until they have established their careers. They both will be in excellent careers, so what is the problem? He told her that he will give her children like they have 3 of their own and he has no problem with that but he is completely against adopting a child. Why would someone be set dead against adopting a child?

She was my first, I was very young, I had just graduated high school and her father wanted nothing to do with eithr of us after he found out. I had SUCH a hard time coping..... I felt as though I had lost my heart. It's not that I didn't want her, I just wanted better for her than what I would have been able to provide. I now have a 10 month old daughter with a wonderful man, who I KNOW to be the love of my life. I know I should be happy, but I can't help but feel horrible. I feel like I chose one over the other. I tried for a while to find a support group but all I found was a group of self rightous bible thumpers who put me down because I didn't go to church. I believe in God... Oh trust me I wouldn't have survived if not for his love... but I just wanted people who went through, hell who were going through wha I was so they could tell me how they do it! I mean on my first mother's day....after boy cotting that holliday for so long, I celebrated, then I cried becaused I felt

My Dad was born in 1949 and was given up for adoption. However the adoption was not legal and there was no paper work. The only think my Dad was ever told is that His mother had many children and that she had to give him up before her husband came home. (assuming he was not the husband's child) As he understands it he was born in Tennessee and his adoptive mother drove up from Jacksonville, FL to TN to get him. The hospital that he was born in burnt down so as we understand it there were no records of his birth. When my Dad started school he was almost taken away because of there being no documentation. They finally went ahead and issued him a birth certificate based off of information that his adopted mother gave them... so it was not his true information. With all this being said.... Is there a way to find out who is mother was and the rest of his siblings???
