birth mother?

Hi all,
Im trying to locate my friend's birth mother with her.
We are stuck and don't know where to start so if any one can help us we would be most grateful.

The details are:
Birth mother
Joyce Margert Hunter (nee?) born in 1949 in yorkshire

Gave birth to Alison hatcher at south sydney womans hospital camperdown n.s.w.Alison was adopted through the agency Sydney rescue work society adoption agency at 3 weeks of age.
Joyce had tried to get Alison back after the adoption.

Please any 1 that knows joyce or could point us in the right direction email or post!

Do she know how fortunate she is to even have a name? Adoptees like myself are even denied a first name from adoption agencies. It sounds as though you guys are making it out to be harder than it is. Try online. Websites like www.zabasearch.com and www.privateeye.com are completely free and work very good. It will even give you the birth year, so you can match that up too. I would kill to even know the woman that had me's first name even. And don't use a PI if it's not necessary. Try to find a search angel on Google first. They do searches for free. Most of them were adopted or are birthparents wanting to help us.

I am sure you have already done all of this.. But, I would start in
www.whitepages.com
Then I would pay the $20 or whatever it is to search for people.
If that doesnt work... I would call anyone with that last name in the area and ask if she is a relative.

Have your friend write to the agency or hospital and give permission to have her papers opened for anyone who wants to view them.

Go through local phone books and look up the name of the birth mother.

sometimes a genelogist will come on line and ask to help here if not you can leave messages and details on cousinconnect.com ancestry.com there are places free you just have to look also write to the health depart of that country. i am not to familiar with coutnries but soemtimes they will help you it would be social secruity office it just depends if you have something like that it would be good to write to them or email if you have access. there are things you can write also trying to find her caus eof health stuff would be good reason and sometimes lead to them helping you more try this. if you know her real name here in US you can get your real birthcertificate if you know your real name and state and then i fyou know where the court is that you were adopted frm they may have sealed records which you can get by paying something for them not too much. try all those things.

And the idea that your friends' biomom is a drug addict is silly. It is a possibility, but really, not the reason most women place. Usually women who are using drugs have their children removed by CPS which is different than voluntary infant adoptions.

Make sure your friend doesn't have fantasies in her head about her birth mother. When a woman gives a child up for adoption there situation is usually bad, so this mother could have been a drug abuser.
