Today my cousin went and got her sonogram. She's having a GIRL! I'm sooo excited, but I'm so worried too. Shes soo young [[turned 16 in April]] and her bf took off to Florida and swears he'll be back. She believes him & shes so naive, cuz he's not coming back. Also she drank at her homecoming and smokes weed pretty reguraly. She says her mom smoked it with her and she came out fine so her baby will come out ok as well. We've tried talking to her and she doesnt wanna take care of herself or the baby, but she says shes a proud mommy to be. I dont know what else I can do for her... I'm so excited about the baby and especially excited its a girl!!!! :-) But i'm super worried that she'll hurt the baby... any suggestions...??

**No rude remarks or suggestions plz. I know she is young, I know she shouldnt be in this predictment, she wanted to take the responsibility for having sex, etc. I just want nice suggestions. We're all adults here. Thank You in advance**

Someone at work mentioned to me today that she thought that because my boyfriend and I are not married that I won't be able to put him on the birth certificate when our baby is born? Does this differ by state? If so we live in Florida so any information would be helpful.

I am 23 weeks pregnant with my 3rd son and so far we've only agreed on the name Trey for him. My older 2 boys (from a previous marriage) are Kameren and Khyler. As much as I would like another "K" name my fiance is not having it. Literally the only name we agree on is Trey. He likes Zion and I like Kaysen. What do you think of the name Trey? I'm fond of Trey but can anyone come up with a longer version of Trey i.e. Treyvon, Treylin? I'd like to have it longer so that it works with Kameren and Khyler......

BE NICE I'm just asking for kind hearted opinions please!

Hey. Okay so yeah im only 15 lol but we're doing this homework assignment about our future. and they ask questions like ... how many kids do u want? if you could pick, how many boys and or girls? what would their names be? .... stuff like that. i know that i want 4 girls, but im having a hard time deciding on names. i hate names that are boring like Hannah, Kelsey, Rebecca, Rachel ... ect. I'm more interested in more modern names that are unique but not too out there like Tanzie and Ava. any ideas?

So-I'm reading that most women didn't find the courses helpful at all.
I am debating on going at all..but my only thought is, won't it make HIM feel more prepared and at ease. Don't men like some backround info before being tossed in this room where I'm histerical and he doesn't know what to do? I wanted to go to the classes also for us to bond a little bit. Were any of these things a factor to any of you ? And did that play a part in saying the classes were helpless?

I took my 8 month to get the first of 2 flu shots and my family is panicked. They told me (after the fact of course) that the flu shot has mercury in it and it is possibly linked to autism. I was wondering what you all know about the subject. I figured to be safe I wouldn't get the second dose next month......

My son is fully potty trained except he still wears a pull up at night. It's very wet in morning. This has been going on for several months. I have been waiting for the pull up to be less wet or dry in the morning. Isn't that correct? I ask him to go to the potty before bed, but he says he doesn't have to. I think he waits til I put on the pull up. Any suggestions? He has some milk while we read before bed. Should I stop the milk? It's a comfort thing for him I think. Help! He will be 4 soon. Thanks.

My son and I were in a department store yesterday buying him his first pair of "big boy underwear". He is only 3, but he walked straight up to the plaid boxers and declared he wanted them. I have a very shaky feeling about it, since I was planning on starting him out in briefs and then converting in a few years. I did end up buying them, but I'm still unsure. What is your opinion?

I gave my niece 2 hotdogs and two biscuits for lunch. Then about half an hour later she decided she was hungry again. She had told me that she was going to watch TV, and I decided I could check on her every 15 minutes or so. Well, I was in my room and I noticed that the house smelled like smoke, so I went to the kitchen and found out she had put another biscuit in the microwave. How should I handle this kind of situation? I've already talked to her about it, but I want to make sure she understands. Any help provided is greatly appreciated.

Will you wait until they're 21?
Or let them drink earlier?
Do you think supervised drinking at a "young" age will lead to irresponsible party drinking or alcoholism later? Or the reverse?

My parents would serve me wine at holiday gatherings starting when I was 15 and it was never a big deal growing up; my husband's family was like this too, granted this was in London 25 years ago, but still, it seems here in the US everyone is so uptight about drinking.
We've raised our daughter the same way (she's just turned 17), a glass of wine or a beer on occasion, like when we go out, or a cocktail at family gatherings. The other day the mother of one of her friends called to chastise us and gave us a parenting lesson. Now I wonder if we're being irresponsible or naive, unintentionally giving her permission to go out and get shitfaced? (I know she drinks outside of home, and I'm fine with that. It's part of being a teenager... or am I wrong to think that, too?)

What are other parents' views?
