The purpose of this school, is to educate our youth into becoming, well behaved civilized adults.

Imagine that you live in this city where this is the ONLY school that's there.

What do you think? Is this strict, how can i make the school look stricter?

Keep in mind this is for a novel.

hahaha, I thought so, but what if the city required you to take your kids to school.

what if some children can visit parents on holiday, but only if they get perfect straight A's

the story doesnt revolve around it, it's just part of the story. Theres a bunch of outcasts forced by law to be sent to that school, or else parents go to jail. They got sick of all the rules so they rebelled, by organizing food fights. So despite the constant beatings they get, they eventually run away.

If you want to read part of the story please see my profile.

Traditionally, kids have always had a schedule and expected behaviours and punishments. I don't like the idea of not being involved in my childs life but growing up with a strict code of work ethics and honor is not really something I see as a bad thing. The ONLY thing I see wrong with it is the disinvolvment of the parents. The punishments you mention(like solitary confinement) may seem a little harsh when just boldly stated like that but corporal punishment and some form of timeout have been used for thousands of years to raise moral and upstanding citizens... I just think they must be always handled with patience and understanding and that is the point where what you are suggesting gets to be a bit too impersonal and perhaps harsh... Parental involvement is always necessary. Authoritarian societies suffer from human weakness and devolve to become arbitrary and diseased. That is a fact of life throughout history.

Your kid would catch it if they sent their kid to school or not. Generally speaking when you show symptoms you are getting over the contagious stage. There are exceptions but most viruses are passed even before symptoms are showing. Also if your kid just has a stuffy nose that is no reason to keep him from school. It is just showing him that every time he is even a little sick he doesn't have to do anything when in the real world you better be coughing up your stomach if you are going to miss a day of work because your sick.

I would not allow my child to go there. First off it wouldn't be the only school in a city because they would have to have a regular school option for children.

Since this is a story, yes it sounds strict. Could it be worse? Yes, they could have to clean horse stables, pull weeds, wash windows, and the many other house and yard work it would take to take care of each child. The cameras would not be legal in a bathroom and possibly not in a bedroom either.

I hope I helped.

cameras in bedrooms and bathrooms are illegal and invasion of privacy. even a child deserves to dress shower and pee without being watched

this is to far over the top

i would never send my child to a school like that. corporal punishment was banded for a reason

also you cant lock someone in a cell for nine hours with no toilet or access to food and water its inhumane and illegal if prisoners in jail get treated better

and since they live there what time is dinner or breakfast

No. That's not even legal to have cameras in the bathrooms. Never. Maybe if my child did something so bad, I'd put them there for a day to scare him, but that's terrible!

Good God no, I wouldn't put my child in there.

I'll be damned if I would send my child to a school their entire childhood to let someone else raise them, with nothing but punishment.

If I did that, then I shouldn't be a mother.

Edit: That sounds baout as strict as it could get.

If it were the only school in my town, I'd homeschool my children.

i dont have kids but if i did i would not send them to that school unless they have behavioral problems. no break on christmas..what is that a school or a prison. 5 year old kids would not be able to handle something like that..

Absolutely not. Who would, in their right mind, send their child to a school that is built around nothing but embarrassing them and punishing them? And why would YOU want to write a novel about it?

well let me give you my opinion, i wouldn't let my child go there even if he had severe problems.
but i like the way you made the details, it reminds me of this one song, whats it called, it goes like this "we dont need no education". or something like that.
