well... This is the argument we always have with my husband. We are going to start ttc next year (cause of money, my insurance will start and I will be done with my AA degree at least... I am 24 years old) and he says that if we ever have a boy he wants the boy to be name after him.... why??????????????? I don’t want to! Then you call your son and it sound like if you are calling your husband! They will both turn around! What you think?

I had my son three months ago, and even though I have lost all but six pounds of my 41-lbs weight gain, I still have a little flab on my tummy. I've been doing situps, but they don't seem to be helping. I'm still eating light (about 1200 cals or less a day) and loosing weight. Will the flab go down with the last little bit of weight? Will time help the stretched abdominal muscles? Or are there different kinds of exercises to help?

I'm 20, unmarried, and a full-time nursing student, so I still have insurance through my parents. I live with my boyfriend, my baby's dad, and he has insurance through the hospital where he works. His insurance isn't too expensive for him, but if he were to add the baby onto his policy, the price would nealy double, taking almost half his paycheck every month. I work as much as I can parttime, but with taking fulltime classes, along with clinicals, there's no way I can work fulltime right now. We would be considered low-income, and I know my baby would be eligible for medicaid. I'm only 26 weeks along, but I really want to have everything arranged by the time he gets here. Who would I contact for more details about getting on it? We've never used any kind of supplemental assistance like this, so I really don't even know where to go. It's probably too early right now, but when would I need to start filling out the paperwork?? Thanks for your help!!!

It may not always be true, but every parent's dream is that his/her child reaches the goals and achievement s/he could not reach.

as so many here claim, then why do so many people have IVF treatments before resorting to adoption?

she's changed a lot since her father passed away 2 years ago. her bathroom trips have lasted longer, she wears long sleeve shirts in the dead of summer, and i've noticed tiny scratches all over her lower arms. not to mention serious attitudes. i'm worried about the scratches. any ideas on how they could have gotten there, and what's going on?

I'll be exactly 19wks pregnant tomorrow. I went for my routine checkup this morning where i got weighed and the doc listened to the baby's heartbeat. It took her several minutes to hear the babys heartbeat. What we thought was the babys heartbeat at first turned out to be actually my pulse that we were hearing, which would explain why it was much slower than it should be. She kept trying and eventually did hear the babys heart beat. It was much faster than mine that we heard and just sounded different, so we knew it was the babys and not mine. She found it again to just reassure me before i left, so i would feel better about it. Has anyone had this experience where it took like 5min to find a heartbeat and like you heard yours too? lol Let me know ! Thanks!

p.s All the other times my doc heard the heartbeat right away...do you know why it might have taken longer this time? Do you think it was because of the baby was moving around when she pressed the device against my tummy.

I'm in need of some serious advice.

I'm majoring in criminology. After college, I plan to go overseas and teach for 1-2 years. This will be my "break" before med school, where I want to become a forensic psychiatrist.

Now, I have always wanted to adopt children before having any of my own. This is mostly because I've always wanted to be a young mother, since I feel that it's easier to connect with your child when you're still quite young. However, by the time I get my MD, I'm undoubtedly going to be in my 30's. See the problem? Sure, I could still have kids earlier, but it wouldn't be fair to them to have a crazy mother trying to care for them while going through med school/residency.

Any advice? Having a family is important to me, but I want a strong career to be able to support them.

All of the above aside, I'm also worried about treating my adopted child(ren) differently when I have biological kids. I can't see myself doing it on purpose, but what if I did it subconsciously?

I'm using Playtex bottles to feed my 6 week old daughter. The regular shaped nipples didn't work well for her, so I switched to the orthodontic nipples. Unfortunately these only come in latex, and the box says not to sterilize them after each use. I don't feel good about that. I use a microwave steam sterilizer. Is it safe to sterilize the latex nipples?

Under protection I became accidentally pregnant with my (yes) EX boyfriend's child. He doesn't want it if we aren't going to be together, and I don't want to be with him. I'm very confused about what to do. I'm young and don't have the emotional or financial support for a baby. Perspectives? Please, no prolifes either. I am prochoice and would like opinions of those who have had abortions and those who have had babies at a young age. Thank you.

Hey i have a 14 year old son. He is a freshman in high school. He has delayed puberty which runs in our family and his doctor says he will develop normally. The problem is his peers constantly tease him... he gets teased about his high voice and short height, and lack of body hair. it really makes him feel bad. After PE they change in the locker rooms and guys make really mean comments about his small penis. They single him out and it really bothers him.
How can i help him with this issue?

I hear people say often, that if a child must be placed for adoption or raised by someone other then their biological parents, then it's always best for a family member (aunt & uncle, grandparents, cousin) to adopt the child then a non-related couple. I wonder though, if your relatives are very different then your parents, not really in the best situation to raise a child, and "taking the child in" mainly out of family obligation, is it still better then having friends of the parents, or another adoptive coupe who really want to raise the child adopt them? For example, if my mom's brother and his wife adopted me, she would not be genetically related to me in anyway, and while I am related to my uncle, he is not close with my mom, and I don't think I would have ever been treated as their child, and may have been seen as a burden.
Has anyone been adopted/ raised by a family member? Do you think it was better then if you had been adopted by someone outside your family?

she will pretend the same thing for days and days, Right now shes pretending that my 2 year old is her baby, shes wraping her up in a blanket and making a crib out of couch cushions, giving her a doll bottle and rattle. Ill go to put the cushions back and she gets bent out of shape, well its driving me nuts. For one thing, I want my 2 year old to know shes a big girl. This game kind of defeats that. She will play a game where she has a pet store. there will be stuffed animals in all verios places throuought the house. some of them will be dressed in clothes. when I go to move them, my daughter will again have a little melt down. Im all for her having creative and imaginative play, but her games go on for days. Is this typical? What can I do to keep my sanity please?

She only watches 30 min. of tv a day. All other times she is doing homework, doing chores, or playing outside. We homeschool and I monitor everything that goes in her mouth. She is not allowed to eat candy, and sweets and desserts are once a month if she has been good. We eat more vegetables than meat, and she is involved in dance, karate, and soccer. I don't get why she is 4'5" and almost 98 pounds. HELP!!!!!

People who can't have children because of illness, because they are lesbian, or because they CAN'T FIND A MAN!! Tend to be very judgemental or critical about other people who are raising their children (Especially women who are single parents) do you think this is towards the person individually, or due to the fact that they feel they could do a better job and envy the person for being BLESSED with something they can never have naturally... I say ADOPT and raise your own children - - in other words MIND YO OWN DAMN BUSINESS!!!

Why do so many people think that disposable diapers are more environmental friendly than cloth? They are ruining our landfills. They take years to break down. Also, human waste should not be in a land fill. Will evidentually contaminate ground water.
