It may not always be true, but every parent's dream is that his/her child reaches the goals and achievement s/he could not reach.

In terms of unfulfilled dreams in depends on the parents esteem, confidence, and sense of self. If a parent is fulfilled as a person there is no reason for a parent to have any desires for their child other than health and happiness. Whether they are consciousness of it or not most parents do aspire to have their children live the life that they (the parents) envision in their mind.
Humans are mammals and over time do evolve. Most people aspire to improve themselves in many ways. So it's only nature that through the course of time one generation is better than the next.

Absolutely not. A child is a reflection of his or her environment. They may resemble one or the other but they will be themselves.

My dream is that they reach their goals, but I have to say this is where a lot of parents get it wrong. They over compensate for their lives and end up giving their children too, much. We are who we are because of the good and the bad things we had to experience in our lives. When we take away the bad what do they learn? I am glad I went thgrough the pain I did as a kid and I try not to meddle in my kids lives too, far. Of course I would save them if their life was in danger, but there is nothing wrong with a little pain and sacrifice.

What you get when you take away the pain is a generation of kids who expect everything they want and they want it now! They never learn to get out on there own, to stumble and then get up. I had to cook for myself, wash my own clothes and entertain myself (no cable, internet or dvd's). I got cut, run over by a car and fell off of roofs and out of trees. I am as a result of my experiences very self sufficient. I can take care of myself. This is a different world, obese children, Columbine and massive pre-teenage pregnancies. I think I liked it better before parents tried to take away the bad things in life.

No, that's not every parent's dream. Most parents just want their kids to be productive and happy, not "mini-me"s.

My mom wants me to graduate college, and that's something she never did. However, I don't think she wants me to do that because its her unfulfilled goal, but because it would be best for me. Iv heard of dads pushing their boys to play sports that they used to play. I do think that can get out of hand sometimes.

I want my girls to become what they want to become no matter what that is as long as they are happy. I truly didn't understand that until I became a parent.
